  2. 'Nuther question: Why not a 406" sbc?

It would be about 80 lbs lighter over the front axle with maybe a bit less torque & the same hp but at a higher rpm.

Was co$t a decision driver? Maybe less parts breakage?

Please don't think I'm being critical, I'm just inquisitive. I absolutely love your build.:cool:

Injection on gas isn’t terrible to tune as long as you stay ahead of the weather, you do have to tube to the DA, and it is sensitive, so I’ll swap pills 2-3 times a race usually, depending on weather changes through the day. Cam will be roughly .780 lift and 280° @ .050 , as far as Compression will be hopefully Atleast 13.0-13.5 to 1

Because per the rules the small BBC will get to weigh 90lb less at the CI. Plus this is the stuff I’d what I blew up in the 55 in 2020 I’m reusing. It’s a 9000+ rpm engine combo.

Yeah I had to scoot back in it, I’m not a small guy at 6’ 2” and 250lb, with a size 14 shoe. I wear this thing like a pair of pants lol

  8. We built our stock cars on the light side. That way we could add the weight to bring it up to specs and put it where we wanted to.

Yes ideally I’d like to be able to add 50-60lb on ballast to make weight.

    6'2" and 250 lbs! Pretty big Bow-ee!!
Reminds me of a guy a few years back in a V-8 powered Opal GT.(shrunken Vet) He climbed out while at the starting line. He had to be all of 6'6" and 200+!
He looked like King Kong! Several peeps in the stands were saying "Holy smoke..look at that dude"!
The roof of the Opal GT was about belt level!
He reached over to the passenger side to press the start button (and purge the nitrous system!;))
Big Bow-eez in tiny cars..quite the site!!
    Keep it skrate!!

The first Home Grown car was dads Opel gt back in 1980. It was an injected 454 bbc, 4 speed car too.

  14. Once we had the car built and scaled, it was a matter of bolting the weight in place. I don't recall ever moving it or changing it in 3 years I ran the car.

The late Richie Evans had a great solution. He built a weight-box into the left side frame. It became a matter of sliding the weight to and fro where he wanted it, lock it up and go racing. He had one basic car used on any track, others had 2 or more cars that were track-specific.

I am in search of (1) single magnesium 15” American torque thrust/5 spoke though, can be a 15x6, 7, or 8, wide, any bolt pattern, and can be damaged. Just need it to repair one of my front runners. thanks!

    Check.
    I'm 6'6", 220#.
The track announcer once said, "Every time I see Greg slide into that altered I expect his feet to pop out the bottom, like The Flintstone Flyer!"
Hence, the moniker The Frenchtown Flyer was born.

    I too own an Anglia...
    ...and a '33 Willys.

I also have an Opel GT story. But that's for another time.

There seems to be some sort of Law of Inverse Proportionality where the bigger the driver, the smaller the car he prefers. Go figure.

Then got the inside of the body primed, and painted semi gloss black, and finished up the brackets and chromoly trans crossmember. We’ll start on the pedals this week.

Mocked the brake and clutch pedals up in the car last night, once I get my clutch fork in we can finish this up.

I see Wilwood on the brake pedal, they also make the clutch pedal assembly, or is that something special from Hall’n Ass Speed?

The clutch pedal is a chromoly kit from Applied Racing, and it’s a floor mount mechanical pedal setup, I didn’t really have room for a floor mount master cylinder though so I went with the swinging wilwood master setup. Wilwood makes the clutch combo but it’s hydraulic and those are prone to issues when using them on a clutch with counterweight and such

Like that slip proof clutch pedal. Like your tranny mount also. Have tranny mount to do with an auto trans & besides weight wonder how much torque trans mount has to take & push into frame. Trying to build light weight like you but for street.

With a mid plate like I’m running, the trans mount really just holds the weight of the transmission and keeps it from trying to whip around. I guess it does act like a crossmember in the chassis some too though. But technically the car could be ran without one, like a 55-57 Chevy car or Chevy truck. With an aluminum Bellhousing or an automatic it could break the case though. You also want to run a rubber/poly trans mount, not a solid mount if you have solid engine mounts, that way the chassis can flex around the transmission instead of binding/breaking it.

I’m hoping to have this car running for the season opener, it may be in sealer primer and need body work still at the debut though.

Yeah we’re on the northeastern tip of Tennessee so it missed us. I’ve actually been in Indy at PRI all weekend but it also missed me here too. Got a lot of wind and rain but no twisters luckily!
