Normal TV, or some subscription deal that can't be explained or understood?

That's great, I hope he does well. I'll check it out, for sure.

I wish Mr. Winfield all the best of success in his new adventure.
He is a national custom treasure. Wonder if he'll be building any cars on the show?

I'm surprised they nailed him down long enough in one place to do a show. I''ll bet 1/2 the guys on the HAMB have had a chance to meet him, because he is constantly doing car shows all over the country. Truely the "Superman of Customizing";):D:cool:

They need to fix their intro...it should say Creators of Windy's Custom Shop, not Creator's.

It would be hard to overestimate the amount of coolness that has p***ed through his hands.

Could be a role model. If he was in a wheelchair, he might be a roll model.

I ran into Gene at one of the So-Cal Friday nights during the LARS, hadn't seen him for a while. We were looking over the ch***is of the Jackie Howerton's roadster, and he mentioned he had just gotten back from Sweden, doing some seminars. You should have seen the smile on his face when I asked him, "do they have any women over there"? Quite a guy !

Met him in Sweden on Custom Motor show a few years back. With him was George Barris, Darryl Starbird n John D Agostino. Was invited into their boot by Gene. Got a chance to to talk with him a look in his 3inch thick folder full of photos of cars that he had built. WOW, if you get the chance, take a look.

I hate to bring this up, but Gene is 94.

If he is conducting a cl*** anywhere in your area, or one you can reasonably get to, DO IT! DO IT NOW!

    Fly if you have to!

This man charges a tiny fraction of the value of his experience and talent to teach it to you. I use things that Gene taught me every single day when I am working in my shop.

He is one of the last of the greats, and he does not hold any secrets or knowledge back!

I can lead body seams now because, when everyone else was taking a break, Gene took 10-minutes to straighten out my technique, with zero judgement. and 1000% encouragement!

Met him at the KKOA show a few years back in Salina. I was quizzing him on chopping my 36 pickup. He cracks me up, I tell him I am going to chop mine 2.5” and he says “take 4 or nothing!”

I first met Gene when he was manning his booth out on the gr*** at Pleasanton in 1998 about a hundred feet from Tex Smith and Tom Medley in their booth. I got to visit with him for a bit, ask a few questions and then ended up buying a pair of Chevy bowtie earrings for my wife from him. That was all he had that I had cash to afford right at that time after spending a week at Bonneville and then driving to Pleasanton.
I've visited with him at car shows over the years, but he usually pays more attention to my wife than me when she is along. I took one of his metalworking cl***es a few years ago and it is well spent money.

  28. Would somebody, I say would somebody please tell me just where he gets the energy for all that stuff he does?!

I was told he has never had a cup of coffee, wonder if that is true. Bob
