May have mentioned before, but the Good In-Tension Jr stocker was owned and driven by Fred Anderson (RIP) of Omaha. Always was a 4 speed car as far as I remember. That was Anderson's specialty. It was an emaculate, beautiful car...obviously Car was ran at many drag strips, points meets, regional, and multiple national events. Mostly ran a 250 hp injected 283 engine, but as the classifications, weight breaks changed in the late 60s and early 70's, he may well have run other variations of engines. 270hp, 220 hp, etc etc He also was a driver at national meets for the blue In-Bomber 57 Chevy. (won class at the 68 nationals I think it was) And was friends with Donnie Stephenson white 57 Chevy (270 hp dual quad 2 dr sedan) "Tension" Jr stocker...they were sort of a team. The Tension car has recently been restored after being found by someone. Picture looks to be at Cornhusker Raceway Park, Omaha taken about 1970 or so. These cars, along with the "PANIC" yellow 56 Chevy....in NHRA's infinite wisdom.... were not long after these pix's were shot...with the stroke of a pin....were made obsolete. (as were thousands of other cars all over the US) NHRA always sucked to me, after that.
Well, this looks like a VERY long thread. I just looked thru some of the more recent pages. If I understand what is allowed here, it appears that cars up thru 1964 are allowed, but NOT the A-bodies, like Chevelle, Cutlass. Skylark, 442, Tempest, GTO. If that's NOT correct, somebody please post the correct info. Thanks ! As my site name suggests, I like Pontiacs. I've noticed quite a few Pontiac pics here. So, I'll TRY to post only those which have not been posted in recent months. Since this thread is for Jr. Stock, I won't post pics of FX class Pontiacs, since that class was considered Top Stock. That leaves out all the '63 421SD powered Pontiacs. Ronnie Broadhead was mentioned. But I didn't notice any pics of his '60 Pontiac, tho there are probably some, somewhere back in the thread. It did quite well. In '63 he was Stock points champ, Indy class winner, & nat record holder, in a C/S 1960 Pontiac.
Before leaving 1960 model Pontiacs, I'll post pics of a few more. Included among them are some nat record holders.
Here's some '61 Model Pontiacs. Gary Moore was div 4 Stock champ in '68. He also won class & set the F/S record @ the '69 Winter Nats. Not sure if the Big Chief car ran Jr. Stock or Top Stock. If it ran Top Stock, ya'll please forgive me. After initially posting this, I remembered that I had a pic of the '61 "White Lightning", on the line. It was a nat rec holder.
There were lots of '62's that ran in one of the S/S classes. But here are nine '62 Pontiacs that ran in A-class & lower. I saw a pic of Don Gay in the Indy winners circle with his trophy for a class win in '64. It seems to be well known that he was DQ'd for a muffler infraction. But, he did pick up quite a few wins with his A/S 421SD powered '62 Cat. The pic of the Wolf & McClelland D/SA Cat has also been posted here. But, since it was a nat record holder, & class winner, I decided to post it again.
There were several '63 Pontiacs that ran FX & M/P. But, right now, I can only think of 1 pic I have of a '63 Pontiac Jr. Stock car. It was the Lumley & Shaw E/SA '63. I've read that '64's are the latest models allowed here, & excludes A-bodies. I have only one pic of a '64 big Pontiac Jr. Stocker. The caption says it had 421 power. But, it was posted on another site that the car actually ran a 389 engine. Considering the class, that is probably correct.
From the pages I flipped thru, it looked like there were pics posted of most of the '59 Pontiacs I have pics of. There were also several '58 pics. But, since there were several of these '58's that did real well, I'll use this post for '58's. 2 of the big name '58 Pontiac guys are Ramon Lowe & Jay Hamilton. Between them, they picked up quite a few event & class wins, as well as nat records. Some other names associated with the '58's are Gene Brown, Lindy Lindholm, & Mary Ann Foss. John Thropp is the most famous '57 Pontiac name. This 1st pic is from the Jr. Stock book. Until I got the book, I had not seen Thropp's red '57. The 2nd pic is of the more famous white '57. But, it's of the car moving down track. The most often seen pic of it has already been posted here.
Here are a couple of Indians that left some scars on the competition. The first is the Douglas and Forys '60 wagon in the final round at Pomona
Prior to racing Fords, Mike won C/SA at the 1961 Indy Nationals driving his '60 El Camino 348/305 1x4 automatic.
I had an all black 58 Pontiac with a 389 and a four barrel carb, but mine made a lot of noise but was never very fast. Jimbo

A friend of my older brother's owned Arnie Beswick's 61 Pontiac from the mid 60's up to the early 2000's. The last time that I saw it was when it went through the Mecom auction in Belvedere ILL. No idea where it went after that.
