welcome to the the club, Yorg. Last week, on the way to work, the condenser in the distributor of my 56 went looking for your Cadillac's tranny [IMG]. Fortunately, this happened only blocks from my house, so I hoofed it back and grabbed my CRX(ever dependable Japanese take out box on wheels). Upon arrival to my place of employ, I hear some wicked metal to metal grinding from the front end--wheel bearing! [IMG] Two cars in less than two hours trying to accomplish the same trip!! Happy, happy, joy, joy!! [IMG]

Deuce - isn't life exciting? I flatlined in the ER while talking to the doctor - asked, " Is that me?" He says, " Deep cough, three times, QUICK!" Beep, beep, beep. Life is good... [IMG]

It will change your outlook on life......

You appreciate your wife MORE......and your family.
    You appreciate your friends more.
You are a lot more willing to express your love and feelings for those you care about.

You care much less about things......cars, houses and money.

Today....Friday the 13th.....I have lived another 2 years and 7 months.......

    Thank You.........GOD.

Tell me about it. The last two weeks have been REAL fun.

We have 3 cars...my '55 Chrysler, my mom's '91 Nissan, and my sister's former '87 Volkswagen, which she left here when she moved out and I consequently am forced to deal with since I moved back in.

I had finally started taking apart the dash on my car to replace the speedo and some other stuff when my mom's car spontaneously broke overnight last Tuesday. It cranked a couple times, slowed down, then just clicked, and it wasn't bad battery connections or a dead battery, 'cause I tried both. So, I gave her my keys and she took it to work, despite that it didn't have heating/defrosting since I removed the controls.

Then MY car broke down when she was coming home from work. She said it cranked over a couple times, then just clicked, same as her car. When I went and looked at it the hot battery cable had melted off at the clamp, but replacing the clamps and jumping it both did nothing.

Meanwhile, I was attempting to fix my sister's old Jetta so my mom could drive it. I barely managed to get it going, but I did it. Then on Sunday I got my car towed home, and after studying the shop manual for a long time I figured out that the problem was the starter relay, and actually got it started with jumper cables over the relay connections, and moved it out of the way so my mom could park the Jetta in the back also (since her Maxima was dead in the garage). When I got it moved, I shut it off and tried starting it again just for kicks...it fired up INSTANTLY and has been working perfectly ever since. Beats the hell out of me how it fixed itself, but whatever.

Then yesterday morning, the Jetta did the same thing the other two cars had done...slow cranking, then just clicking. AGHHH. I drove my mom to work and back, then managed to fix the Jetta (it was just bad battery connections, VW used extremely flimsy stamped sheet metal clamps that were barely holding on).

Then later that night, we got her Maxima hauled out of the garage and pushed down the alley to the repair place. We left it right in front of their garage doors, and my mom tried starting it just to see if it would. Nope, same thing.

Then, not even an hour ago, the shop called my mom at work and told her they just put a battery charger on it and it started right up. I nearly flipped. I tried everything, then my uncle came over and tried the exact same things, and without even doing anything the shop gets it started? AGHHHHH!
