    Go ahead, dream...it's free.

For me, it's using the original serial number block (which I have) to build a new 230 motor for my 46 Truck. Eggy head (the new one the Montana Mopar Boy's developed), dual carb intake. 3 into 1 dual headers with ceramic coating. Those wild new pistons I believe were announced here for the 230, along with H-beam rods. Cross drilled crank. A Montana Mopar Boy's regrind cam for the right sound and of course the power. A slant six distributor swap. 12V in a stock housing alternator, so it still looks right. I'm working on stuffing a modern filter adapter inside the stock filter canister, I'll only have to reroute the input and output lines.
I admit, the pistons are a bit expensive, but this is a dream build.

    What's yours?

In the 427 SOHC thread, anyone of the engine builds would be fine for me.

  6. I have already had my dream engine, then sold it. A 427 Ford Tunnel port, 2X4s, NASCAR crank, 13:1 compression, 330 duration solid cam. All this was back in the 80s. It would probably be worth more than my house if I still had it today.

I have my 289 that I spent ten years on but I would like to build an aluminum Dart block for the Fairlane, I know it's OT.

A 12 port 261 Chevy, with side draft induction, possibly stealth converted to injection.

This is a great thread already :) But, details....dreaming big doesn't just mean big inches. The Montana Mopar Boys are getting 240HP from their four banger. Now that is dreaming...and succeeding. In case you can't tell from the constant references, I'm a mopar freak.

I bought the makin's about 30 years ago. It's still in a million pieces but will be assembled someday.

A 59A flathead X block already bored to 3-3/8", so it will need a little more. A 4" Merc crank. Grancor heads, some of the nicest condition pieces of old speed equipment I've ever seen. A matching Grancor 2x2 intake. Chrome Strombergs. An HC dual coil distributor. And a chrome pan and front cover.

    I've like Ford "Y" block V8s,an used one in my 1928A hot rod,starting 1959.
So kind of followed along on what was being done with them.
The wildest one is this FI four cammer "Y". That would be cool "Y" to have for hot rod power. BucciYblock.jpg
    I like Studebaker v8s,also,and 1954 saw them build a 4 cam V8 for Indy 500

Mine would be a blown 394 Olds. A rock solid stroker street engine, 450+ cu. in. GMC 6-71 with a four port Hilborn EFI on top.

  22. 20200508_155925.jpg First is a small journal 327 I have with real Mondello heads, Isky magnum roller cam and a George Montgomery/Sneaky Pete Robinson magnesium blower with an Enderle Barn Door
    Screenshot_20200808-234533_Gallery.jpg
Second is a 427 closed chamber heads and a dual Carter AFB Say - Why And intake.
Both are just mocked up right now but I still dream about the day of first start.

  23. This was a dream once, 3.830" bore x 3.3" stroke for 304 cubic inches. Approx. 500+ HP on gas and 3.7 mph shy of 200. My dream now is just 5 more mph. ;)

Many years ago at a local car show a guy came pulling in with a killer black 64 Fairlane. Even from a distance it sounded good and I expected to see a hot 289 when he opened the hood but a 2x4 427 (FE) POPPED out, man, what a beautiful engine bay that was.
