I see a lot of later steering setups in most of the pics, what are you guys using on original Model A steering shafts/tubes?

In the supporting role, a budget Speedway column bought used off of Craigslist.
Didn't have to pay for shipping, Score!

  13. On the old racer, swap meet wooden rimmed wheel ,machined hub to suit the A column and the truck cap just finished the deal. Not to everyone’s taste but good for its purpose.

I use a John Deere 16" wheel from a combine, 18'' wheel usually on tractors. Looks 50's traditional. speedshifter Greg W

I know it's big, but sometimes big is okay..... I used a '53 Ford column to incorporate a column shift. Younger hot rodders probably don't remember when converting to a column shift was the cool thing to do. Model A Dash panel 012.JPG

Mine doesn't have any right now but I'm working on it, I have a knee injury at the moment so not allowed in the garage and waiting for parts. I have the new column, couplings and several options for steering wheels. 20211223_3.JPG 20211223_2.JPG

I found a NASH banjo wheel, searched over a year for the correct center button, turned a taper in the hub and cut a keyway by HAND with a broach and a handmade guide. Fitted it to my Schroeder sprint box. I'm very pleased with the result.
