OK, so I'm in the process of Z'ing the frame in my shop truck and I need some help with this right angle Trigonometry to cut the new rails correctly. This isn't a hard problem to someone who knows the laws of sines and cosines (Sin=opposite/hypotenuse, Cos=adjacent/hypotenuse, Tan= opposite/adjacent), but I can't find my graphing calculator and I forget how to set the problem up anyhow. Any help finding angle X and angle Y would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks alot guys. I just figured out how to get the inverse sines using the microsoft calulator and checked myself with your numbers. right on the money, thanks again.
Here's a simpler trig calculator. You only need to enter two "knowns" and it will solve the rest. http://www.carbidedepot.com/formulas-trigright.asp
The sine angle is nice to know, but don't get too worked-up at keeping 2 decimal places of accuracy. Remember, you are using a filler metal when welding, so fill
Cut both pieces 22.5 degree's and they'll always fit right, if your using something like 2X3 square tube, or the like, at least for a 45 degree joint. I funked the hell outa Trig in HS. Wish I'd have paid more attention now.....
