If you look at the beginning of this, where I show some of the inspiration/concepts, there is a picture of the roof bows welded together. If I can find the article, I will repost it.
OK, you may or may NOT like this, however I was playing with different logos on the side of the car. Car will be dark red primer and I was looking for maybe something old-school. But then again, maybe drag car update? Take a look, weigh in and let me know , like or hate!
Hello, thanks for the message. Sure, can you send the pictures and price to my email? Did you receive this from back in December?
Nice job, I am going to follow along. I am not a skulls or iron cross guy, so I will vote for the wheel standing rail logo on the door. We used to get to arizona in March, but it doesn’t look promising again this year. Those seats look like they will work out well.
Next up, take the frame out from under the car. Welding, grinding, welding, grinding, ... grinding. Prep for powdercoating.
I don't understand the point of putting a large prominent logo on a street car if you don't own a business or aren't sponsored by a business. Then it's just some tribute car. Some generic T-shirt artwork or phony speed shop makes it even lamer. If I'm putting any logo on a car, it would be 201INJURYLAW.COM and my build would be a tax deduction. Also, the one logo is for the 8th Army Air Corps. I'm not sure what your background is, but if it's not military, you better be prepared to answer a lot of questions. I applaud the OP here for his zest but it seems like there are too many build styles, eras, and ideas flying around and this car isn't going to have a cohesive styling scheme. 59 Ford dash, waterfall console, dimple dies... all scream 60's show rod. Then the premise of artwork sort of makes it like a drag car. Then the tunnel ram and Mopar fuel door are sort of 70s street freak. It seems like the styling premise here is, "I like that element, let me add it", with the idea that individual cool touches all added together make a well styled car in their totality. That's not how it works. In fact, it works exactly the opposite. The first thing that should be addressed is stance, which is going to make or break any hot rod. Then figure out what style you're trying to emulate, and execute it. You have to know when to say when, and there will be loads of cool, creative things you think of that end up on the cutting room floor because they just don't fit this project.

Who cares what decade or style the car comes closest to? Somebody set the trends for every style of car you can name by saying to themselves, "Hey, that's really cool. I like it and I'm going to put one on my car." The important thing is, the builder likes it. If you don't care for how it comes out... too bad. Build something that suits you and don't worry about someone else's idea of cool. When the project is completed, if it suits the builder it suits me just fine too. Here's a logo I really like.
That looks like the logo people put on ****ty looking cars to deflect the fact that they built some abomination.
JMHO, but... The best looking cars are the ones that have been thought out and carry a theme to the total build. Including a fad here, a fad there, with no cohesive plan, just don't trip my trigger. Other than pinstriping, I don't like "art" on cars either... too reminiscent of '70s vans. Last but not least, I respect the military units that have served our country too much to plagiarize their logos. If one served in that unit, OK, but "borrowing" ain't cool in my book.
LMAO. Joe, while I appreciate your feedback, sorry however I disagree completely with your at***ude and comments. These cars are built to be whatever they are or want to be by the builder. Your premises are the very reason why this sport/hobby is in jeopardy. I agree with Fabber McGee and to 28phonebooth's comments, if you read what I posted, you would see that I said IF I were to do so at the request of Oliver westlund, that was what I would use. Old-school cool is OLD-SCHOOL KOOL. Tribute or not, who cares, that is what I WANT to do to MY car. BTW, what does yours look like? Did you build it, or pay for it? Big difference. You are a cl***ic reason why people dislike this forum. Force your will on others to acquiesce to your command. NOT gonna happen with me. I will build my car the way I want to, as I have prefaced from the start. I make NO apologies.
My car. Built by me. Metal work by me. Paint applied by my bud Billy, in a 2 car unheated garage. This is a backyard build in every sense of the word. I've owned this one nearly 20 years. I have some other nice cars too. Some I've done a ton of work to. Some I haven't. You're barking up the wrong tree on this forum. Plenty of guys have rolled award winning cars out of their backyards, myself included. It's no excuse. That being said, "built not bought" is ******** and I don't believe in moral victories. I'd have zero qualms about buying a nice completed car, and I don't think it's right to look down on guys that didn't build their cars, either. Build your car however you want. I'm not forcing my will on anybody. I'm just simply pointing out that your style doesn't seem to have direction and you're running dangerously close to rat rod territory. My 57 would look ridiculous if I took it and jacked it up in the back on slicks with a roll cage, but kept everything else the same. It would be a weird mix of styles. But if that's what you want, then build that. But don't think that I have to like it because you do.
Well, you have a nice car. I am not out to shame others or be disrespectful, and I also don't need your approval. WOW... running dangerously close to rat rod territory... get over that. This hobby was not created from "Award Winning Cars". Most of it was regular day people who wanted something better or faster and they used whatever was available. People with plenty of disposable income painted their cars, most people didn't. So, I will agree to disagree with your viewpoints.
You know in fairness to 57Joe, this is the Traditional Hot Rod forum. The guidelines are clearly laid out in the first thread of the forum. People come in here and expect to see a hot rod that faithfully fits into the mid 60s and prior mold. NOW, to be fair to you, you've got some really cool ideas and by all means build it however the hell you want. Your money, your time, and your vision. The creators/moderators of this site have set up an appropriate forum for everything outside of the true Traditional box. It's called the Hokey *** Message Board. Sound familiar? I put my build over there because even though I want it to appear as an early 60s rod, there's some parts on the car that definitely weren't available at that time. I know people will pick that stuff out. I didn't want to get booted out of the Traditional forum or face all the flack that you're unfortunately going to continue to get keeping your build here. Shouldn't be too hard to move your posts.... Either way, have fun and good luck. You got some cool stuff going on. It ****s to see dudes getting criticized, but it should be expected. There's a way around it....
Thank you for the response. I am fully aware of this website's focus. Hence the reason I started with "I am not sure where to post this". Additionally, IMHO since my age is reminiscent of hot rods and/or street rods, this may not be the forum to be a member since it is geared toward what I would call "stock" built cars.... flatheads, ect... I grew up going to hot rod and street rod shows in the 70s- 80s. And it appears there are people here whom wish to stay "stock" or in the 50s-60s. This is the exact reason I was off for a long time. Way too much stress over my cars and probably why I should just move on from here again! My avatar is representative of what I build and is NOT traditional. So much for wishful thinking!
