Hi all, I have a question and a request. First the question: I'm trying to replace the p***enger door gl*** on a 32 5w. I did a ton of research and all I could find was how to install the gl***. I need to know how to remove it. I can't remove the lower gl*** channel from the window regulator due to the 400lbs of industrial caulk the prior owners used to seat the gl***. Neither regulator arm will move to the point on the track I can separate the regulator from the channel. The door handle arm is riveted to the regulator so that's another sticking point. I could break the gl*** but I wanted to use it as a pattern. Any suggestions? The request I have is could y'all post pictures of your inner window structure if you have a 32 5w. As you can see from the photos mine has been...creatively built. I can't find any pics of how the inner window frame is supposed to look on the internet.
Wind the gl*** all the way up, then use something like duct tape over the top of the door to hold it there. Then you can remove the six screws holding the regulator to the door, and slide the regulator forward and back to get the arms loose from the bottom window track. To remove the gl*** from the door you will need to undo the metal rear track from the fuzzies and door shell. Hopefully it isn't glued in too hard as well. Then you can lower the gl*** and tilt and turn to get it to fit out the hole.
Thank you! I was able to get the regulator and gl*** out. As you can see I wasn't kidding about the caulk the previous owner used.
Looking at the pics of your door I would say that the reason for all that goop on the leading edge of your door is to replace the wooden wedge pieces that screw in there. I have a UPAC body which is supposed to replicate the original and it came with the wooden pieces screwed in place (there are 2 nutsert type things incorporated into the door to suit.) Also the back top corner of your door does not look like the original. I think the builder may have patched up the door to suit the OG gl*** but the fit may not have been perfect. I can email you pics of my wooden bits and the bare door if you like as I haven't fitted my gl*** yet.
Swiftly is correct. The gl*** channel is just straight up and down front and rear. Then you have a rubber seal that goes to the top. At the front of the door some had metal some wood. Even different manufacture are engineer changes.
