8BA oil restrictor location

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Showing-Cords, Dec 30, 2021.

  1. I'm really close on my 8BA build. I'm down to details and one of those details is the oil restrictor for the feed line to the partial flow oil housing. I'm getting mixed messages on my research. I'm pretty sure it has to be a 1/16" I.D. but I don't know where it has to be. I've read that sometimes it's in the fitting on the rear of the block, sometimes it's in the fitting on the oil filter housing. I also read that if it's anywhere on the feed line to the oil filter it's ok. My current setup has none of that. I had to braze a fitting into my oil filter housing as the old one was broken off and long gone. It has a 3/32" I.D. The fitting in the block is dang near 1/4" I.D. I figure someone swapped that out with a plain air fitting of some sort. If the restrictor is just fine in the fitting on the block I can do that pretty easy. If it can be anywhere on the feed line, again no problem. I can put it in the fitting on the oil filter housing as well. Wherever it needs to be, I can do it. I just need to know where it goes.

As far as know, it's in the fitting on the inlet of the canister.
