Projects Flathead identification

    Yes there are three ribs on the oil pan doesn't have an aluminum timing cover. Maybe another clue... while I have the intake off I'm giving it a thorough cleaning looks like the original paint could be a bronze/gold color.

    Your engine is typical of many found today, an ***embly of parts that never left the factory together.
    It really doesn't matter as long as you have the parts you need to install in your vehicle. There are no "numbers matching" identification options on Ford flatheads, simply the features of the parts. As far as 8BA type blocks are concerned the only meaningful difference is if you have hardened valve seats or not.
    The cast iron three bolt carb intake was used all years of Ford 8BA style production.
    The three rib oil pan is 52-53 p***enger car, Ford and Mercury.
    The heads are 52-53 Mercury.
