The A RPU is done! Pix

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by X38, Aug 23, 2006.

  1. Well, my part is anyway. For those who remember, I was given a crusty cowl, doors, a repro bed and an 8BA/auto back in February. The owner came to pick it up last weekend. He's a big 6'+ critter, and I made room in a stock body for him to be comfortable and not be able to pick his nose with his knees! Still needs valances, but it's off for wiring, panel, paint and trim. Wheels are 35 wires, cut down to 15x5 and 15x7. 235/75 and 165/80 rubber. Centres of the wheels were also cut out and replaced with late Ford for the bolt pattern. Rears are to be brought in another inch each side, diff is 56". I chopped the Brookville posts 2," tank is under the rear.

Sweet RPU! The right hand drive is 2 kool!!

  3. Looking good (although I would have left the rims 16"......but that's just me).

    Any shots of the enginebay?

    Cheers,

    Drewfus:D

  4. Drewfus, it's not my car and (to a point) the customer is always right. They really wanted w/w radials, of the 15 inch variety. Still, as I'm sure you know, it could be worse! Yeah, engine bay shots and interior are on another camera, I'll get 'em loaded as soon as I can.

  5. That IS really neat...and steel too. Good stuff. Gotta agree with Drewfus on the wheels....especially at the back....looks like someone shrank their nuts!

    Full reg or limited?

That big grin on your face says it all!! Good job. :D

  7. So nice to see a RPU with fenders. Lately all you see is fenderless. Absolutely beautiful work. You are to be commended!

    Hey-X-38,
Reverse those negs- That driver is on the wrong side of the car!:D ;). Seriously though, very nice work as well as the digs, I totally love the brick driveway as well as the way the garage is set up. Must be nice to live in the land of Oz.:)

  10. it is, come on over and sample for yourself.....(can ya pack a few sets of cyclone heads as well)....;) :D

Fair call, the customer...still, great to see that he's using the flatty.

    Cheers,

    Drewfus:D

  11. Whiskytango, that's not my gorgeous head, that's the 6'2 son of the owner. The owner is about 5'4". He can dangle his feet!

Thanks Kevin, yes, not bad for a winter afternoon. I did that drive from the front of the house all the way to the back, wouldn't line up for that job again in a hurry. It's got concrete underneath, garage itself is dead flat and level. House itself is a '36 model. And yes, I've got a couple more flatties in there that need good heads too!

  12. Peddro, full reg in Queensland where it is now. I made the frame and they're sweet with that up there. The son is finishing it, regoing it, then it's going to live in Vic with dad. How that's all going to work re rego, don't ask me, I just play the tunes!

Re rear wheels, there's about 4" travel between the 29" rubber and the fender, that's dry and unladen. Car can go another 1" lower on the coilover mounts.

  22. Thanks for the kind words everyone. TMF the bed was built by a guy named "Shorty." He's up in the Brisbane/Gold Coast area as well. The owner got it together with the cowl and doors at the Toowoomba Swap, but I believe they're around the $800 mark. Peter Jackson made the three panels for the back of the body as well as the rocker/door sills and front apron. He's got patterns for an incredible number of old car panels and grille shells.
