It is iconic to people who like customs and/or appreciate Americana. The real question will be if it appeals to at least two people in that category. I agree with the opinion that it won't meet the reserve.

$1,010,000. Hopefully the new owner doesn’t lock it away to never be seen publicly again.

I have followed along with this thread but I waited until today to post. Based on what I have observed idiots pay for cars that are not even in the same league as this one, I will say $3,500,000. This is the car that defines customs. It presents good taste, not gaudy excess. It is one of one.

In the news this morning ... someone paid 3.18 million for a Superman comic book. To do what? Let your friends come over and look at it? Maybe even let them read it? Doubt it.

But I would pay 3.5 million for the Hirohata Merc, (if I had that kinda money). And I would share it with all my kustom loving friends. Come see it, come sit in it, come drive it. Can't make it? I'll bring it to you.

One could argue that it would be better appreciated and more people could se it if it went to Europe. Probably not so much other continents. Way more kids, now young adults with crazy money, read comic books than were into 70 year old custom automobiles.
    Guess we'll see.

Two things of note: 1-not much pf a crowd. 2-who leaves a potentially multi-million dollar car sitting by itself in the middle of a cavernous convention center?
