Good shot, you don't see many Latham superchargers in old shots. Look at the GIANT lower pulley Man those things spin way up normally can't imagine the rotor speed with that setup.
My neighbor used to come home with his sprint car looking like that most every weekend, but you don't expect that from the straight line guys. I'll bet that had the neighbors talking. Scary looking rear wheels....
Made me think of this photo. Woodburn, Or. Roland in the white shirt, Kenney Goodell, topping off the water, and Snively having a smoke, and probably checking the air pressure. Dave Wedlake photo.
17 years old with his Crossley Altered... from the Gabelich collection Rae Gabelich Feb 1959 Gabelich Altered Coupe 19 Year old Gary Gabelich Bixby Knolls Hello, Growing up in Long Beach had some rather fun things happening then and when things began to clear up for some teenagers, history began to show up in droves. Tom McEwen and Gary Gabelich went to Long Beach Poly High School, They were in earlier cl***es, with Gary Gabelich one year earlier than my brother’s 1959 cl***. We enjoyed filming the blue Crossley Altered at the drags because of the local Long Beach/Bixby Knolls/Poly HS connection. It was amazing that the Crossley Altered was built and run by a teenager. Gabelich 59-60 Blue Altered Legend of Lions Gary Gabelich This is Gary Gabelich as a 17 year old teenager to the memorial days in hot rod/drag racing + land speed records. Thanks, Gary…

These would have around 1958/9. Somewhere around Novato Ca. Dad was in the AF out there. Love the multi lane.
