Sunbeam. Great questions. I shall ask the builder. I know he has only done a couple hemis. What you say makes sense. I’ll ask him!!

Wfo guy. One curious thing I noticed was that the 3&7 exhaust valves and 4&8 exhaust valves are the ones with issues. No others. Exactly across from each other, if that even matters. I think I have a pretty good builder for his capabilities and he always eats the repairs.

Got a couple of questions. Were the rocker arms rebuilt? If so what does the rebuilder consider rebuilt?

  4. Dan, I would check to see how the rockers line up. Is something way off that would cause the valve to be pushed off center. Years ago, a hemi expert working for Chrysler told me to put newspaper between the rocker and the stem. If the paper is torn, you have a problem. I use this on most engines if anything is modified from stock. The tip of the rocker is supposed to rotate across the valve and not slide. That's a poor description on my part but if the geometry is correct, the rocker is pushing down at the same rate as it moves across the valve from one side to another.

Gimpyshotrods. Good question! The heads were originally rebuilt in New Mexico several years ago. My builder went through them before the motor was assembled. So basically I had two shops work on them. So my knowledge is pretty void of good detail

You know I can see when I stuck the first valve on the drivers side. Was going through the cam break in when it happened. The passenger exhaust valve stuck after several months of the motor running and probably 6 hours of running after the first valve issue was fixed. Kind of out of nowhere. Guess I’ll wait to hear what the builder finds and hear what he has to say. Just thinking out loud. Thanks for listening folks.
