I would emagin the original owner would be excited to see the old Ford looking better than it ever has....
Beautiful. Just opened this thread first time. I have to sound out and thank you for restoring. Can't feature that many coupes become a cut down. You have done this perfect.
When i started this build i felt the need to keep the flavor of how this car was built back in the day. I think many people will enjoy this at car shows.
I finished installing the new panel boards for the interior. I used a hole punch to make the holes for the plastic fasteners. This interior was first installed in 1958 still looks great. The material is a little stiff but i made it work with out any damage.
I like the glue artwork on the door panels! You have done this car proud. Your definitely worthy of owning a historic hot rod.
Looking better with every post. Great job on saving the interior. How do those original tires handle?
The old tires were not useable. They did not hold air and were dry rotted. I went with bias ply to keep that old look
The old antenna that frank installed was shot. I found a replacement that matched what was on the car. Ford Fairlane 1960. I think the antenna helps to keep the car dated.
The wiper motor was in the trunk when i bought the car . Trying to figure out how it goes together and still allow me to close the windshield. The wiper shaft goes through the frame of the windshield. This is the home made bracket that was on the wiper shaft. Any one have a close up picture of one like this attached to the windshield?
Painted the seat frame and installed a pair of speakers. Not sure if i will install a stereo but i wanted to get the speakers in now so i don't have to redo the fabric. The stereo will mount in the trunk out of site if i install one.
Some one used an old quilt to stuff under the seat cover. I used some speaker fabric to hide the speakers. I am amazed how the seat covers look after 63 years.
Here is the finished trunk. I wired in a pig tail for a trickle charger that i hid under the trunk behind the license plate.
As a kid who grew up poor in the '70's, this picture, the stance is exactly what my dad and my uncles and their friends were doing. Airshocks, Keystones, and raised white letters. Fricken perfect!
I used a one way roll over check valve inside the trunk placed above the fuel tank. The actual vent is mounted outside under the trunk floor. I have only driven the car a few blocks with out the doors on. I don't think there will be any fumes inside. When i get the car finished i can answer that.
