when i was moveing into my new home. i spotted it parked behind a mechanic shop. so every month i went to ask if he wanted to sell it. so after 3 yrs of asking he said okay. it literally took that long.

Wow, what a find! Even if it took a few years of convincing. Do you know the car's history? Wow. Nice score!

that is about the sweetest thing i've ever seen, looks almost like you could do a little work and fire up the 6-in-a-row and drive it like that for awhile.which hydra-matic do you have out of the '56? please tell me it's a slant pan dual-range-george

  10. I got a buddy with a sooper clean black 35 3 window. He builds Olds 442's and has many 442 drive train parts lying around but insists on keeping the little coupe original, with it's puny flathead 6 banger.
    How's the wood in yours?

the guy i bought it from says he got it in trade. the customer couldn't pay for the work he did. so he came back a couple of days later and offered the 35 olds in exchange for the work.

he says when he recieved the car it had a new paint job and intiror. the only problem with it was that it needed a water pump but he took the head of to check the pistons and never put it back. so the cylinder walls rusted all up and it's frozen. funny thing is he owns a mechanic shop. so he let it sit behind the shop for 20 yrs. last time it was on the road was in 1984 according to the tags.

every month i was there hounding him for 3 yrs but for 3 months i had stopped. then i showed up again to give it one more shot. i walked up and he said where you've been. i told him getting money together to buy his car he started to laugh. then he said those magic words make me an offer. so i offered 2,000 he said 3,000 so we settled on 2,500 for it and towed home that weekend. i only live four blocks away. finally after 3 yrs its home. sorry yorgatron it not a slant pan. Olds are new to me i'm the next rocketeer in training. i also have a rebuilt 303 rocket i got in trade for some body work w/ a hydro.

rocky thats one of the problems i have right now. this car is so complete that it would hurt to not leave it orignal. then again i like the photoshop pic mai ki-ki put up. the wood is still solid except for the doors they sag. i'm just gonna reinforce it with metal. for it being 69 yrs old the only rust thats eaten thru is the trunk floor. the rest is just surface rust. mai ki-ki that pic looks great. thanks

With starphoto all you have to do is replace everything after the 2-1-1 or whatever album location is with .jpg
in his case it winds up like this
    http://photo.starblvd.net/belair/2-1-1.jpg
then to put up the pic in your message you put [IMG] after it.
    It comes out like this:
if you want multiple pics in a message you just do it again with the address of the new pic.

  15. Killer Olds! I wish I had got a coupe. I have a 37 sedan. That is a very nice find indeed. I have a Olds 3x2 intake I may let go of--PM me if interested. Great find--keep us posted on the progress.

You think I could get the old glass off the olds? Wonder if any of it would fit the 38.

lonestar you can have the glass but it's no good anymore. you can't see thru it. it has mold and fog between the glass all around. not one was salvageable. unless you need them for templates.

i don't know nuttin about photoshoppin', but in mai-ki-ki's last pic, if you replaced all the background except the driveway WITH driveway, wouldn't it look like the car is sitting in the middle of the salt flats?

shoot, there's enough b'ville pix around here you could even cut in floating mountain in the background.

    just a thought.

Thats what i was hopin on. I got the 38 in pretty bad shape. You're doin the hamb barbeque thing at LB right? Split window in the rear? I'm hopin i'm able to use the rear glass n front/windshiel as templates.

As i forgot to mention that cars gonna be tits when you're done. Ironically i call my car la bomba on occasion. Atleast you goin with a rocket, I have brought shame amongst the rocketeers with a 305 in my 38 [IMG] a mistake which will be corrected when I got more cash.
