Have to admit I broke down and bought a S2000..been wanting one since they came out...I love cars for the engineering that goes into them and have to say, this car is everything it says..fast, and handles like a go cart..makes my old pickup feel like i was driving a dumptruck...makes me rethink my 49 Chevy...I thought it was fast...its really just loud, thought it handled ok..it doesnt... realize i love old cars for the cool factor, and after turning wrenches so long, and now being in mgmt. allows me to continue what I really love..working on machines.... and my hands are to fat to build plastic models....before anyone dogs me out..I could have opened this with "hey pussies, I have a belly tank"..but just wanted to air my thoughts....anyone want to chime in on what it is about cars they enjoy?
So you went from feeling like you were driving a dump truck that was cool to driving a go cart? I'm having a hard time understanding how that's supposed to convince me it's a great car. Oh, and giving up the cool factor? That's like giving up breathing. WTF were you thinking? And thoughts on what I like about my car, since that's what you wanted. Anyone hits me, I may not even feel it, your car is just a ramp for the person that hits you. It's cool as hell and I'd push it anywhere before I'd drive a Honda. Pre 55 is the only way to go.
I've always loved small cars, I have a 93 Saturn SC2, not a technological marvel, but a lot of fun and it's sure nice to get 30 mpg in a daily driver. I am sure you will be grinning from ear to ear for weeks! Enjoy it! I'm waiting to see if they make the Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solstice in a hardtop -- I'd jump on that!
I still have my 49 chevy...cant use it for daily though because of my job...have to take customers out etc...and no a/c in the chevy in Houston is not fun..
Funny thing is it only gets like 24 miles a gallon...and uses premium...had it for a month now and still really happy with it...but there is nothing like flooring my 350/700r4 4 and hearing the noise of straight pipes..hahaha
they aren't special. this is neither the time, nor place. I loved my 240, but come on, this is the HAMB.
My dad has a new Cadillac. Anyone want me to tell 'em all about it? It's a really cool car. I promise. JH
Oh ya, well I also wear Levis, ride a Schwinn,... work on Cat, and John Deere equipment...non of which have anything to do with America anymore...and most of my parts for my Chevy have foreign stickers on them...this was not about foreign vs Amer. made...just about my love for engineering and cars...glad you guys have Amer. TVs, cars (if there is such a thing), tools (even snap on is made overseas now), etc...
Great, another O/T post that's WAAAY O/T and will surely turn into a ****** battle of "good vs. evil"... I don't understand the O/T stuff here sometimes... this type of discussion may be better suited for a board like this one: http://www.superhonda.com/forum/ Just my opinion. Wish we would just stick to talking about hot rods that are NOT O/T and save O/T stuff for subjects like "my garage burned down" or "Need to rant about AutoZone"... at least they're O/T subjects that are relavent to building Hot Rods... I can even handle something like "I graduated from college today" or "Had a new baby HAMBer last night"... at least these show HAMB family progression.... **** like "I bought a new Honda" is a waste of server space... I drive a Toyota truck, but I would never waste people's time talking about it on here because it's irrelivent to everything this place is about. Plus I would be asking for a verbal *** whipping from everyone on here (probably like what you're going to get for posting this). There is an exception though... if you were driving your S2000 and you discovered something neat about the suspension or broke a bolt on the caliper while coming to a hard stop or something and had pictures to show what happened, then that would be at least "tech" related and we could take something educational away from it... It's Friday and I'm definitely going to ***** about **** like this on Fridays!!
My vote is to take your Honda S2000 and chop it up and make a Lotus 7 clone . . . . http://www.caranddriver.com/features/11304/features-review-the-homemades.html Oh yea . . . and that would nail the "car I made for a couple of grand" thread if you did it with a cheap car . . . that might be a little less O/T than the blatant what I drive thread. I likewise enjoyed all the "jump Ford and bash" thread when everyone here's into taking old stuff that Consumer's Reports didn't bless and making it into something fun. Go figure.
