Miniature license plate keychains. The DAV used to put them in with your new plates every year, hoping for a donation. I have bunches of these, this is just a small sample.

Just a bit of information concerning Tennessee state shapes..... The first year of stateshapes is 1936, the last year is 1956, There was no 1943 plate issued, a tab was issued instead. All stateshapes were issued in pairs, except 1954. In 1954 only a single plate was issued. Because of the single issue plate, many citys and towns had front booster plates( this included colleges and recreation destinations.ie Ruby Falls, Great Smokey Mtns.)

1954 Town of Erwin booster plate.

  10. @HOTRODPRIMER I’ve been waiting for you to check in here with that license plate. I still need a South Carolina plate for the collection. That is a good one.

This one is my seven year old daughter's prized possession. She has been fascinated with it since the day I brought it home. It's hanging on the wall in her playroom......she insisted! I love this stuff!! 20220209_171144.jpg

Yeah, the good thing is it's solid. There is a lot of work though.

Ok, let’s get really obscure here. California Fish and Game registration plate. This would have been on a commercial fishing vessel.

I might've messed up finding this thread because it's set me off buying more plate stuff! Got these DAV keychains in the mail today. DAVKeychains.jpg
I got this lot mostly for the '58 keychain. I thought it would look good with the old key blank I had cut for my truck. Key.jpg
I also got this '57 plate in the mail today. I've always wanted either a '57 Chrysler or Desoto so after seeing how the plates keep going up in price I figured I'd have one on hand in case it ever comes to pass. Plate57.jpg
I ran across these by accident in the shop today. I didn't even remember when I bought the '58 plate for my truck that it was a set of two and one of the next number. Going to get these all hung on the wall with my other ones. Plates58.jpg

I like your thinking. Buying a plate just in case you find a car to put it on.

Could be bad though. Probably set me off to actively hunting one.

Brought these home a while ago. Very thin aluminum, with a stamped “waffle” pattern to stiffen the plates a little. Somewhere, I have a couple of other states. They were made immediately after the war when materials were still in short supply.

  26. @302GMC Is that a Coulter Cadillac frame on that Arizona collector plate?

I thought that’s what it was. Now let’s talk about that KIFI radio plate. :)

I have this one from Milwaukee, back when WRIT ruled the AM airwaves.

I found it unused in a thrift store for 49 cents. One old timer thought it may have been issued to press members of our 2nd TV station here in Idaho Falls, early '50s
