Hi Folks, Did a little searching and didn’t find an answer, so I hope this hasn’t been asked a million times before. I have a 31 Model A Coupe body that I am going to be doing some metal work on, starting with replacing the sub-rails. Is there a good resource that would show how panels and rails are ***embled and attached? Thanks! - John
The model a club of America has a magazine called (I think) The Restorer. I recall they would occasionally print the body blueprints for a particular model. The model a mechanics guide, book 2, has some nice info on the wood kits. And of course there are tons of photos from builds here and on the fordbsrn site. Maybe others know of books dedicated to body ***embly, but the above is what I’ve found helpful
I think I actually have that book, but haven’t looked through it lately. I’ll give it a skim tonight. Thanks
@MrHavard check out fordgarage.com they have a section on there about building up a coupe body from subrails up.
On one on the Model A restores websites there are photos and article on the complete dis***embly and ***embly of a 30-31 coupe body.
Correct....."The Restorer" an invaluable tool and they go waaaaay back. Lot's of good info even from the 60's before all this CAD stuff happened.
Like other mention above. 30-31 As sub rail pretty much all together with rivets, & body panels bent over crimped & nails very few spot weld on panels if any , maybe drip rail? I think nails , only spot welds I remember seeing was on upper dash rail on 30-31 roadster , I believe it was 3 pieces to make one
