I'm doing this super low 32 ch***is and am struggling with the front motor mounts. I'm using my 409 to FH pump kit and need to raise the motor about 2 inches. I could have some spacers machined but I'm looking for something more creative. The problem raising the mounts is the narrowness of the frame and the clearance for the hood. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

Build em and bolt em on. I built mine from SS and sunk threaded stock through the frame and welded the bungs through the boxed frame. 3 bolts on each side and they come right off so I can drop my flathead through the bottom for the frame with out removing the front sheet metal or hood. If your frame is unboxed this may not work but I think a cool pair of raised mounts all drilled and polished would look cool.

  3. I have a very Fertal mind but if I want anything worthwhile coming out, I need a photo of where we're starting from. Post up some photos and let's see what happens.

I've built countless Flathead deuce ch***is using the standard biscuit and weld on frame mounts which is fine for a normal ch***is. This ch***is has a 5 inch dropped axle, flat front cross member and super low front spring. That's why I have to raise the motor and trans. Trans is easy but something that looks good under the hood is a challenge. I'll figure something out just looking for others ideas.

Those handmade Steadfast mounts are the best. He's showed them on his Instagram page in their raw unfinished form and the number of pieces involved is unbelievable. He's an artist. I've made lots of parts so we'll have to see what I can create?

  10. Being you're not stuck with the mount ears on the Flathead water pumps I would think you could come off the front of the blocks 32 mount holes and do a low drop version of the Hurst S.B.C. unit and put the tabs about any place you want them unless the 409 pump blocks them. I've never actually seen the 409 pump on a flathead so no idea if it blocks the tapped holes or not.

Gary, this is what I did when I built my T modified. Sorry for the crummy picture. F31EB043-98D6-4DA4-A58A-1A237F2820F5.jpeg

Those biscuit type mounts use 7/16" NF thread bolts so I dressed mine up on top with chrome acorn mag wheel nuts.
