That's some great footage. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that looks to be Prudhomme in Ivo's car as it's being pushed through the pits. Very cool!
I couldn't tell from the footage, but, it looked like that nailhead was in the 46-48 ford coupe. it reminded me of a coupe in a junkyard auction, down the road from me about fifteen years ago. looked pretty un***uming, until i looked inside, saw a wilcap adapter & "not a flathead" peeking through the firewall. Popped the hood to see nailhead power with all the go fast goodies missing. The olds rear end was still under it. I called my buddy to let him know what i just found, he came out & bought it fairly cheap too
I worked in Castle Rock, CO. for 25yrs. They have a small museum there which is now inside the former train depot that was moved to a new location many years ago. In that museum there is a nice display celebrating Continental Divide Raceway. Still a lot of guys around there that raced on the track. As you go south on I25, looking west you can still see the contour of the hill where the grandstands once were. It is now on private property. Bob
