I'm kinda looking for a T85/R11 setup to replace the '50 Ford O/D transmission in my tub. The cheapest one I've found so far had an asking price of $750. They're just not out there anymore. The fact that Ford felt comfortable putting them behind FE's says it all.

I wouldn't be able to get the money outta my pocket fast enough!
The carc*** will s**** out for more than $100 even after you pull the good stuff.
It would have been on my trailer the day I saw it.

  4. I see a wad of pocket money there , and a learning experience for this 25 year old hamb member. Maybe even a feature thread :D

I am with Steve all the way,..... use it for a parts car,.. gl***, trim parts, rear, front bumpers, etc,etc... ONLY if you love a 60 Ford.
one of the rarest and hardest cars to build... really poor sales for 1960.Really expensive. to build one today. A Starliner would be my aim.
As mentioned, the trans and rear are worth way more than the asking price. You just really have to have a place to put it and tear it apart, using it as a donor.

But if you have other interests and its not a bucket car for you..... well.....

If you have room to keep her, why not?!

Back to that T-85 transmission, easy to rebuild, sell for profit, keep for amazing overdrive driving. I've had it's Borg-Warner Chevrolet model brother in my truck for 20+ years, 120k miles.

I would pick it up in a minute.

That’s a base model Fairlane, which is a lower trim level than the upscale Galaxy, and has a different roofline and fishbowl rear window.

Get it running, clean it up, and make it a driver.

The hate for four doors is starting to irritate me, to some extent. I graduated from that camp fifteen years ago. I really prefer the stripper models.

I would bring it home because someone can use the parts…I’m lucky in that I have room for that sort of nonsense.

What is it that makes it a rust bucket? What I can see in the pictures doesn't look that bad. Rockers are good, quarters are good. Even if the floor is missing completely that looks better than some stuff I've fixed.

Brings back memories, Dad thought they were so ugly he waited a year until the 1961's came out. For $200. get it home and start cutting, keeper pile & s**** pile.

Tell ya' what. I'll send you the $200 today if I can pick up the transmission on my way home to Minnesota in May.

$200 total investment is a deal. Whether you decide to try to get it running, part it out, or otherwise.

P*** it on to a friend. That`s what I would do. I`m way to busy. Let somebody else deal with it. I would rather spend my time working on my project.

You don't see the 1960 models very often.

For $100 I'd at least cut the rear off for a wall hanger, keep some parts and maybe s**** the rest.

At my age I’d just buy it to flip it. At 25 I’d either strip it and part it or try to get it on the road. The former would be work, the latter would be work and $$ invested.

Thanks guys I'm going to let a buddy snag the deal. He will most likely part it out.

  21. If you can get it home without a ticket or repair, go for it. There is some serious styling there, and an education when you take it apart.

That is one ugly ****er.....A 60 Starliner has some style but in general all 59-60 cars are giant uglies....In my opinion...;)

This one needs more than just a fancy Bleed paint job to be "Dangerous". I think it's more like "May Cause Tet****". :D

  25. Ozelle, my '55 Ford, would love to have that overdrive transmission. I'd buy that '60 in a heartbeat, save the engine and trans, sell that 9" rear that's too wide for the '55, and sell a bunch of other stuff off of it. The pedal ***embly with brake and clutch pedals should be the same '60-'64, and somebody needs that. Steering box, gl***, trim pieces, dash, lots of pieces that somebody needs. Save what you need and part out the rest for more than you paid for it. I always liked '60 Fords--my favorite of the '60-'64 big Fords. My father worked at the Atlanta ***embly plant when they were building them.

I parted out a cars before new and old when I worked in automotive and could keep the car at the shop and always made crazy cash on parts.

last car I parted was about 6 years ago and the wife asked if I could go this as a side business .
I said sure iff you don’t mind the house looking like a s**** yard !!!
I envy you guys with a barn snd a back forty !

Not worth it if the plan is to save it. But well worth it if the plan is to part it out.
