My 38 Ford Pu has sitting for a year and this winter i take some time to get het back on the road. There was some old fuel in the tank and carb,i drained the tank and flush the fuel lines. I put the carb apart and clean all the parts, also removing the emulsion tubes, there was some dirt around them. After rebuild and new gaskets and leather i start the car up. Setting the throttle valve and tune something with the small screws (i start with 5/8 out) The car didnt idle nice, when i give some throttle and let it back to idle sometimes it shuts down. When i look above in the carb i see that a little bit fuel is coming out the emulsion tubes, is that normal ?(small drops that comes to mist in the air flow) Float level is set to factory specs, i set the float level a little lower but didnt resolve the problem.
Had the same problem, had to set the floats with the carb tops off and feeding with the electric fuel pump at 2.5 psi.
a couple weeks ago i posted a thread about the fuel pump rod, my rod can taken apart in 2 pieces and someone put 2 shims between both parts so the rod is a little longer (3 mm longer) With ***embling i removed the shims ans measure the rod lenght: close too factory spec. (i look in a parts book and there was writen down the lenght of the rod) I didnt have stuff to measure the fuel pressure but i will figure out if i can make some measure instrument to do this
