I think the ones you are thinking of were the weird ohs that were originally done by hawk models I think and re released by testors The zingers were by MPC The Deals wheels 57 was done by Revell and the model came first before the real car The Roth cars were done by Revell also but the real cars came first The car Craft dream rod was done by AMT and the real car came first
I believe Dave Shuten from Galpin owns a few of them now. Pretty sure I have seen him post pics of them on IG
A funny (?) and a sorta related story. When I was a kid, a buddy called me up and told me he had just got the Revell "Mr G***er" kit, but didn't have any green paint for the "monster". I had a half of a bottle of Testors green left over from when I built the kit, stuck it in my pocket and told him I'd be over after dinner. Well, I never made it over to his house that night. The next morning the pants go in the wash (paint still in pocket) and apparently the cap wasn't on tight. Needless to say, that wash load was ruined... but for weeks, little "green spots" would show up on ANYTHING my mom washed...especially my dad's white dress shirts for work My parents had to buy a new washing machine...and all new dress shirts for my dad Boy, did I ever "get it" for that one
Well maybe, but they are little plastic things with engines, kind of like full race lawnmowers, What's the HAMB suppose to allow? Just my view. Thanks for your help I found some of the rules but not on the kind of vehicles, can you provide them? The Sale of ***les, Bills of Sale, Historical Do***ents and VIN plates is not allowed. This is the place for separate parts or parts cars that may be used on a Traditional Rod and Custom. You may list engine and drivetrain parts newer than 1964 but no hi-tech items. "Hi-tech" would include computerized engines, digital ****, modern stereo equipment, radar detectors, etc. Car and Truck parts only. Motorcycle parts should be listed at www.jockeyjournal.com THE CUTOFF FOR BODY PARTS IS 1964. Unless the vehicle shares the EXACT same body style. NO VW or Mustang body parts. There are plenty of other sites for them. YOU MUST INCLUDE PRICES. The price must be in the price category. If you are selling multiple items put "listed" in the price box. Just want to trade? List it in the Wanted section with TRADE in the ***le. Every item for sale must be listed and every item listed must have a price. You must request that interested parties send PRIVATE CONVERSATIONS or EMAIL you with other parts requests. If your email is disabled your ad will be deleted. YOUR AD MUST INCLUDE THE CITY AND STATE. Yes, we realize that your profile may include it but it also may not. This is an attempt for us to cut down on spammers and protect YOU. We don't want to have to check each ad to see if it's in the profile so fill out the little box and save us all some grief. The "3 Day Bump Rule"; A seller may not 'bump'; their ad any sooner than three days since the last time THEY bumped it. Please respect your fellow HAMBers. This little rule was put into effect to keep people from bringing their ad back to the top (BTTT) in a manner detrimental to other ads. Should a seller think of something to add before the 3 days is up they may do so by editing their previous post. Vague ads may be closed or deleted at our discretion. 5 ( FIVE) CL***IFIEDS ADS MAX PER SECTION PER DAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUMP ONLY 5 ADS AT ONCE AND THEN FOLLOW THE BUMP RULES..... PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL TO FELLOW HAMB SELLERS....... No EBAY, CRAIGSLIST, or links to other general listing sites. When you list something on the HAMB you are accepting FULL RESPONSIBILITY for the transaction, just as if you were selling it yourself. If the listing is for a friend you better make damn sure they're a good one. Links to other web-sites full of off topic or questionable material may be removed at our discretion. If that's all the ad contains it will be removed all together.
after the comment you made yesterday and then deleted..... "Stupid cars for stupid money for stupid owners, just stupid" I think the thread should stay and maybe you should leave.....
Even that they are technically not old cars, they were built in our time frame, are part of our history and they are fun to look at. So thanks for posting them!
I did delete it, I'm that Hoodlum you started the HAMB for, it's my favorite site on the net. I buy and sell here and want to continue. I'll settle down. I see you are a HAMB boss, how did you see what I deleted, it was wrong and so I deleted it.
These are all cool and that 57 Chevy I want for when I’m old n grey as my mobility scooter !! @John Lee Williamson , period correct or not , useful or not . These things are cool . the Hamb is my favourite site on the ol’ googlator , agree or jot just hang on for the ride , your gonna learn something new everyday !!!!!!
I get to see a couple of them at my house every day!!! here are my clones when I brought them to the James Dean run in 07. Steve Tansy and Chuck Miller were special guests there, they were the original Zinger builders
The wild models and show cars I saw as a kid influenced me very heavily. They have a lot of memories. I built models and dreamed of the day I could drive. The first ''cars'' that I customized were models.
"Stupid cars for stupid money for stupid owners, just stupid" That's funny as hell John @John Lee Williamson If my Wife ever joined the HAMB, that would probably be her "signature" line.
I really like these models, and the cars-but the man has a point. A '66 car is out of here-deleted from the HAMB in a heartbeat, but a '66 model stays and is honored. I am not suggesting that this thread should go, but there is undeniably a double standard in place.
Thanks, moving them was the right thing to do, here's the kind of rod and custom guy I am, John Williamson Custom Cars | Rik Hoving | Custom Car Photo Archive | Fotki.com, photo and video sharing made easy.
Nice. Too bad things occasionally get so "sticky" hereabouts. I own a plastic 1930's style roadster VW Kit Kar, and I wouldn't dare post a photo of it here. Not that I like that rule personally, but only I post that stuff on a VW forum, out of respect. We don't allow Non-VW type cars there, so I understand the policy totally. I think. I mean I wouldn't post my boat or my motorcycle here either. Anyhow, fun stuff, and they look only slightly less practical to drive than mine actually.
I think you should move it back Mark. And we all hit the ignore ****on on the cry baby. Boycott his sales ads lmao!
I'm fine with it in the custom forum... It's a pretty important sidebar from my view. But, I'll leave it to mark.
Oh... and yes, there is most definitely a double standard on the HAMB. I very much prioritize things that I like over things that I don't. Some people share my sensibilities while others don't... But I guess that's what makes this place personal to me.
