Okay been working on the rear stanchions . Have them about 90% repaired. Now I don’t know if I want to keep lights in the pods or put dagmars on and call it done ! Opinions?

Great to see you picking away at this yet. If the diameter was right, a pair of '57 Chevy front bumper rubber tips might look cool in that rear guard, but I could see them being reverse lights, too. Either way an impressive amount of work it took to fix those things!

  6. So , been working away again . Took three days off last week plus the weekend . Knocking stuff out quite quickly . Amazing how if uninterrupted what you can get accomplished . Although you can’t see it in th pictures I got the filler panel between body and bumper done , blocked the trunk and back of the car , ready for the final coat s of high build . Worked on the rear window surround , had to slice it open to adjust for final window fitment. It’s better now .
Made the start of a filler panel inside around the rear glass as it hide all the inner structure of the glass frame . Couple pics for the faithful . IMG_3284.JPG 66870772621__5A41C177-7E1D-4FD8-8685-483483129DC0.JPG IMG_3287.JPG IMG_3288.JPG IMG_3289.JPG

That Tetris game of sheet metal seams on the inside of the rear window really shows how much work went into making that right, very nice looking results though!

Window surround complete, just needs painted , and urethane then drop the glass in . Nice streamlined look as the rubber surround is flat not bulbous as stock window gaskets . I like the look !

Since you asked... Ditch the Dagmars! They make the rear end look cheap and plastic-y somehow.

If it was me, I'd make them back-up lights, auxiliary brake lights, or exhaust exit surrounds.

  10. Thanks for input , the jury is still out on these I ll see as I get closer to completion . The exhaust is dumped out the side quarter panel behind the wheel opening . Reverse lights may still be the option . Time will tell .

  11. Amazing work as always! I love seeing the updates. Still hard to believe what you started with compared to where the car is now. Well done sir!

Turn them into tail lights and fill in the tail lights. Dare to be different?

  13. LOL the whole car is the definition of different . Seriously though I have thought of that as well , a little concerned of them being so low . ??? Not completely convinced yet on what direction ! Thanks for input .

So , next on the agenda ,hood . If I have attention of long haulers I wanted to have my hood open conventionally. I used 87 F150 hinges . Very basic hinge . Put them on and , no go . Lots of scratching head on that . Voila the centreline of the hinges are inboard 8” . All that is on the backside of the hood past pivot point wants to cantilever down into the cowl . No good . Sooo off come the back portion of the hood to be grafted onto cowl and move the break point closer to the front of the hood . I’ll will make more sense as I move along . In the meantime have a look .

More progress shots . This ole sled is getting a little hot rod touch as well . Slight tasteful induction. Serves two purposes. The first is a way for the hot air under the hood to evacuate once I cut open the hood scoops . Air in air out principal. Secondly, it’s to facilitate the opening of the hood without binding at the cowl area . Get it all welded up and ground it’s going to be killer in my opinion !!

  17. By the way I had to take that profile shot as it’s the first time I’ve seen it outside in six months . Later !

So here we are , showing what I did under the hood to hinge brackets. Tied the two hood inner structures together . Cowl pretty much done . Showing side profile of hood . Also rear glass is installed. Lots of time just for this . I have two months left to have ready for our main event car show here in town . Clock is ticking .

  19. I'd say use (kind of) dark lens in the bumper guards with LED lights. Ya can't have enough brake light in today's world of dumbass drivers!!

Starting to see some paint finally . Getting the inner fenders wetted out and the headlight opening painted . Will be able to final assemble the front clip next weekend . Wire the heads and directional lights . Get that stuff crossed off the list .

  21. IMG_3533.JPG IMG_3534.JPG IMG_3535.JPG

Not a great shot , dusty engine compartment but the painted front clip is in place . I am in the process of blending all the sheet metal together . All welded up and filler to get the desired effect! Moving forward!

  22. Here’s an idea, put it in the pedal car on the ground next to it.

  23. LOL i figured someone would pick up on that !!

You're gonna want to delete the LS reference and photos. Not H.A.M B.-friendly.
