hey there, Fred here from Berlin, Germany. i own (or am owned by... ?) a 1940 Plymouth P10 2door sedan called "Das Boot". over the years it has been hopped up more and more, it currently has a bored out and fully built 265 Chrysler l-head six with a Borg Warner OD behind it. i have been getting way too deep into this whole early Mopar thing (i do have an open mind towards all other brands, it was just the first old american car that i got, so i kind of stuck to it) and hope to find some help and like-minded people here. here's some pictures of the car as it sits now. it is certainly not a custom, and i don't know if one would call it a hot rod, but i'm pretty confident that it is traditional. Fred
thanks for the welcome guys! Sergeant, the paint is all original. it is sort of battleship grey and got burnt on the nose and fenders by the Kansas sun. there is a spot on the right rear fender that was painted after it got hit, but it looks like that was back in the 70s or so. i just polished and oiled the car from the outside. there was zero structural rust, no welding anywhere.
Hey Fred, that's a really strong pic of you in the Avatar. very natural. Was that taken by a pro photographer ?...
Welcome from Arkansas USA. Engine compartment looks great. I'd say a pair of fender skirts would make your car an instant mild custom. Very nice.
thank you! i had that plan a long time ago. never looked right to me. so i went the other way and hopped up the engine...
Fred I just want you to know that in my opinion, "Das Boot" has a nice finish on it. I hope that you do not paint it. Keep it looking the way it is. The early 6 cylinder hop up additions to the engine look great also. Jay
