If its a P M 7, you have an aftermarket part that relly does work.

Yeah, I can see where someone might refer to a Thickstun for a Chevy six as a "dogbone". I'v only seen them for 216s, but you can either open up the ports or buy some adapter rings from Tom Langdon to run it on your 235.

I think this is the item. Check you don't have any issues with firewall brace clearance.

Man - if I could find a Thickstun intake, I'd really consider keeping my 235. Why aren't there more manifolds with that much gratuitous style out there?

Its a bit beat up - a NOS one sold for 6 C notes a while back on the 'gay

Its for a 216, so ya gotta run headers etc and adaptor rings to get it on a 235. Also runs the smaller 2 11/16" base chevy carbs

You are a lucky man, sir-those thing's are damned HOT!:D
Wish I could figure out a way to make it work in a '62 Impala-clearance issues:(

These are the only pics I have, and I'm using them for references to fab up my linkages as well. Can't be real hard tho.

I'm no expert but I'll share what I've learnt - if i'm wrong hopefully someone will set me straight:eek:

I dunno about later 235's but the earlier stovebolts had locating rings that sat in the block port hole to help locate in intake manifold. The 216 manifolds have a smaller port size (about 1/8 inch smaller) and smaller rings than the 235 so the Thickstun (set up for the smaller rings) will have clearance problems with the larger stock 235 port locating rings. You can either: run without the rings and hope you get good alignment of the manifold on the block, bore some out of the Thickstun manifold (I dunno about clearance on this one) to accept the larger 235 port locating rings, or use adaptor rings. I got port adaptor rings from stovebolt - 9 clams a set. I haven't fitted em up yet - just sharing what I have learnt

There are two sizes of 1bbl carb used on chevy sixes, earlier models use a 2 11/16 bolt spacing on the carb, and the later models use a 2 15/16 bolt spacing. You will need the 2 11/16 bolt pattern carbs for this manifold.

If you plan to run the stock exhaust    you will need a 216 exhaust manifold, coz the heat riser bolt pattern is different between the later 235's and the earlier 216's.

These manifold sit about 5 1/2 inches out from the block and go back about 1 inch from the end of the back intake port, so I'm trying to figure out a way of getting the firewall brace on my 54 out of the way nicely. You often see these manifolds chipped at the outside of the last port, so I guess clearance is a common problem.

If your intake still has both linkage rod ears in place, just buy a length of mild steel rod from the local hardware and come up with three clamp on linkage arms like you see on a million stromberg 97s. That should get you going, and will be adjustable besides.

Bringing this back up to the top. Am putting one of these on my 55 chevy with Fenton exhaust manifolds. Any tips, caveats, or even history on the Thickstun. How does it compare to the Fenton and Offy intakes?
