I posted this in the hot rod Corvette thread but didn't get any replies. I'm looking for info and other photos of the Rod Shop '63 Corvette. Want info on actual engine details, interior color and details. I'm going to try to build the 1/16 scale kit a bit more accurate than the box art.
Starting painting my project Blackstar ('25 Dodge Bonneville special), and began some interior detailing today. The seat bottom cushions are shaped from balsa wood blocks, and covered with used (washed and dried) paper coffee filters, to simulate Army surplus canvas covers. Much of the interior is painted with zinc oxide "primer" paint. The story is that the car's builder was on a tight budget, and picked up some zinc oxide primer, and some surplus tent canvas at an OKC Army surplus store, for cheap. That's my story, and I'm stick'in to it... Happy Sunday Modeling! David
I need your advice on what I can use for a wash on an AMT 36 Ford chrome grill. The chrome is well done but needs black contrast between the grill bars. I've read some about washes but never used them. Thanks. John
I know they make special washes for that purpose...but I have used water based flat black watered down and applied it then use a dry stiff cloth and wiped it after it dried.
Nice looking '40 rc,and if I may respectfully give the right explanation of the Testors 1 Coat colors as I made the same mistake. The Wet Look Clear cap is obviously clear, the White Lightning cap is a frosted clear and the Diamond Dust cap is Silver. Not at all trying to make ya look bad but I did make the same mistake during a build and grabbed the white lightning thinking it was the clear not paying attention really.Hope I didn't step on any toes here.
Mistake or not, I really like this. This may sound goofy but seeing that shade of color along with the (matte?) lustre reminds me of a vintage (or just old) Porsche 356 Speedster. Don't ask me why, but if I had a vintage (or just old) 356 I'd have it painted, wheels and all, just like your coupe.
Very cool @mchook. I can remember drawing cars like this, and choppers, in middle school study hall. I got pretty good with a pencil, at the expense of good grades. Ha!
