Those wheels are pretty rusty. Usually the centers are ok but the rims are toast. I actually cut off a set and turned down the centers in my brake lathe. I chucked up a front hub and turned the cutter around so I could cut the outside of the rim center that I left attached to the center of the wheel. Check out my other build thread of my 27 T all Ford by Ford.

I used 16" aftermarket wheels off of a Lincoln Mark VIII. I chucked up a junk Ford ranger front hub and cut off the rotor part of it. I bolted the aftermarket wheels to that and cut the welds on the back side. Not an easy task. After they were cut I had to heat up the rim and use a sledge hammer to beat the centers out.

I turned down the wide five centers to fit tight in the new rim and left about 1/16" of the old rim on them. Make sure they are a tight fit in the new rims. I had to use a dead blow hammer to drive them together.

More than I needed but my goal was to horse trade away some stuff to reduce my cost. I got a 51 F1 rolling ch***is, 2-283’s, and 2- flathead 6 cyc and trans for 500.00 plus the ride (2 tanks of gas) I sold the tires and 6’s for 600.00 And swapped the 283’s for 2 8BA’s and a 3 speed w/ overdrive. I plan on using the pedals and trans crossmember so I’m all in for about 100 bucks; a win in my book. E0DAE2EE-3D95-41CD-8825-BAEF6CB6F322.jpeg Back to the build. What do you think of this stance? I don’t know how much the spring will squat with weight on wheels. I’m trying to figure hour how much I need to Z the frame.

Are there any diagrams where the holes go on the subrails? I flipped my front bones and helped a lot. I think I’m gonna need maybe one or two cuts to bring them closer to the frame. Man the body is ruff but it is what it is.
