Just got a call from AV8 Paul traveling with the Rolling Bones crew from New York to the Salt. They have stopped over in Omaha at the Heartland Inn off of I-80 exit 5, and will be de-tuning themselves with Coronas and MGDs for awhile before hitting the hay. If any HAMBers want to swing by and say "hi" they are more than welcome. They will be up early and on the road heading to Cheyenne WY for their next layover, staying at the Super 8 motel on West Lincoln ave tomorrow evening. And if any local HAMBers in Cheyenne want to say "hi", stop on by. I will add to this post as more info becomes available.
Thanks Jay, I raced over in my coupe. They must have seen or heard me coming, they had already hit the sack. Rocky woke them up and got Paul to come out and give us a tour of their stuff, way cool. It was nice to see a couple of coupes that are chopped so much, makes me want to wack on mine again. Good luck guys!!! jeff
LMAO!!! That's kick-ass you guys went over there and woke them up! I am glad you got to see the coupes up close. Was Paul still grumblin' about his roadster being on the trailer? They were givin' him crap about it going faster on the trailer than he ever drove it....
I am going to take 1000 pictures on the salt this year. Probably half of those shots will be of the Rolling Bones guys... damn these cars are perfect.
Just got another update. The crew have arrived in Cheyenne and are chilling at the Super 8. Stop by for cold beverages if your in the 'hood. One noteworthy occurance- One of the 3 windows got pulled over by the Nebraska Highway Patrol near North Platte. The cop asked "I pulled up behind you and you were doing 94 mph, how come you only slowed down to 87 when you saw me?" Ticket was for 90 in a 75... I guess they didnt mention the fact that the car doesnt have a tach or speedo... They should be rolling into Wendover tomorrow.
...ahahaha. When Ken came to my house on his way back from Pamona, he showed me a ticket for 90 in a 70mph zone...when your rollin' with the Bones, you're really rollin'...
Yeah Paul was still grumblin' , I told him thats still cool at least he is still goin. Thanks again , Jay later, jeff
What kind of beer do you "bones guys" prefer?............just in case I get a chance to bring some to the HOP UP tent.
The whole gang stopped in Laramie, WY this morning and I want to thank them for taking the time out of their trip. They even unloaded the racecar for the students to take a look at. I really want to thank Chris for arranging the meeting and you guys will are welcome to stop by any time you pass through. I was too busy talking to take many pictures but here are the few I took. Brick
Its a pedal car that will deplayed at the 75th anniversary of the 32 ford .Serveral shops were selected for this task, the Bones Boys did it in true bones style....
i couldn't afford to run with those guys.......sounds like a lot of tickets cool....more pics would be great!
Another update- They arrived in Wendover as of Tuesday evening, and have been recharging the batteries with frosty cold ones. The roadster goes in for tech inspectioon tomorrow and the boys will set up the pit area. I guess in the middle of the night on Tuesday someone took the top and windshield off of Pauls roadster and painted numbers on the side...
I need to see a pic of that also. They got the job half done for you while you were sleeping, now get that roadster of yours into tech and out on the salt Paul!!!
OK. Another quick update: They were 2nd in line today for the tech inspection, and the roadster passed with flying colors. Tomorrow they make a pass after they start running cars at noon. Hopefully they can get in line tonite or first thing in the morning and run soon after twelve. Their pit area is set up right next to H.U.R.T., so stop by and say "HI"! Peter Vincent is doing a photo shoot with the pedal car this evening at sunset, so those pics should be cool. The number painted on Paul's car is "37b", and yesterday was his birthday so last nite went to the wee hours...he was mumbling something about gin.... Good Luck Bones Crew.
What is the most recent news?? Hopefully they can stop by on their way home and we can celebrate a great week on the salt. Good luck guys!!! jeff
Hey Bones guys- Look for my buddy Jim "Irish" Ireland in his Plymouth Hemi Coupe. He'll be running Maryland tags that read "33 COOP". Great guy. Great car. I met him when I shot his car for Street Rodder in 2002. He drives the Hell outta that car and has finally made his way to the salt in it. Anyway, you guys would get along great with him.. Spike
I gleened this data from the results page from yesterday: Number Engine Body Entry Name Quarter Mile1 Mile2 2321 XF FR Rolling Bones Racing Team 109.010 109.364 108.456
We felt it was necessary to help paul fit in better ,,, More corona would also have helped . thanks for taken siderider for a cruise paul , George
Pictures of pauls roadster will be added within 24 hours , The old top needs to be chopped with a sewing machine ...
Siderider was a pleasure to talk to. The smile on his face after a blast across the salt with no windshield was worth it for me.
