Very cool. What did the wheelbase end up being?

Oh sorry missed that it’s 100” car that’s about what they were in that era some were shorter some were longer but of all the ones I looked at that is what I decided mine needed to be to be honest I think it looks perfect whether it’s right or wrong I can tell you for the most part I don’t much have to worry about big wheelstands I can make it do that If I want to but it normally will lift the front wheels about a foot and it goes straight

Well it looks great. I agree with you on the wheelbase. I like the shorter ones myself. More era correct. I also like the bigger bottom frame rail. Anywhere from 2.5" to 3". Keep us all posted on any future progress. ✌

Weather is getting warmer. Out in garage playing with ideas. Maybe a roller before end of summer

Gypsy I've had a few that started out like that, and some I finished. Good Luck!

Weather is horrible outside so messing around in garage. Getting a little more serious.

Not sure how I've missed this thread but just spent time going through the whole thing - awesome stuff. We owe a lot to the folks who were there, particularly those who helped keep history alive through their photos.
Everything I've got is recent stuff but hopefully still fits.
The "Gizzlehopper", as mentioned earlier has been at the Meltdown and was part of the Cacklefest last year at the Fall-Out Drags. There's a thread with pics from HAMB'ers here:
    Event Coverage - The Official Fall-Out drags #6 Picture Thread | The H.A.M.B. (jalopyjournal.com)

The "Panty Dropper" pictured earlier in this thread was at the Fall-Out too, puttin' on a show as usual!

Again, great stuff. For me, comp coupes have not been all but forgotten; they were/are badass racecars. Period.

40ragtop this last 3 pictures you posted are the epitome of drag racing comp coupe/sedan. I especially like the one from 59, I wonder if that is a Fiat body? Also the last picture I think is the A and B speed shop anglia.

Fred Waterworth's car, ran out of Ak Miller's shop...usually ran a 322" Olds, but also ran a Chrysler.

Saw Jazzy's first version (no body setback) run at Santa Ana circa 1955. What a cool car!

I haven't been on here for awhile, been running around with the bantam from Pennsylvania to Pomona last couple years but it's been fun! Met alot of great people and alot that remembered the car from Detroit and Indianapolis. Got to meet some of the original owners along the way. Got to meet gypsy flyer at bowlingreen. Glad to see he's getting to his build!
