DSCF9155.JPG Equinox, like Mt. Equinox in Vermont were this car was racing in an SCCA Hill Climb around 1953. I found the remains in September of 1971 and later sold them to Jim Etter around 1979.

DSCF9156.JPG DSCF9157.JPG Yesterday I found a two page letter (remember them, before the computers) from Jim asking me about the condition of the frame and body parts. He did put axles under it with Ford V8 wire wheels, and installed an A engine, and had a running car at a meet in Ohio, Dover I think. He sold it and lost track of who he sold it to. Lots of good things have happened in the past 51 years, but I WANT TO FIND THIS CAR. Any and all tips are welcome, thanks! Bob

Jim riding as mechanic in the car in 1980, the only photo I've seen after I sold the remains.

Braved the cold and wet and went to Hotrod Showdown this last weekend. Random pic from driving around. Adjusted the valves, and hooked up my oil pressure gauge that maybe is too high to actually work right on a banger.

  14. There WILL be a Ford "Bangers" time trials at the Historic Santa Margarita Ranch this year! It's just a matter of when! I'll meet with the ranch owner next week. We may have a choice of late June; or late September/early October. Late June carries a potential of high temperatures. The September date would be either week earlier of later than the RPM Nationals! What do you participants think?

Does anyone know if there will be a "hill climb" in Northern Cal this year? I believe there had been one in May or June pre-Covid and pre-FAST ending. Was it in Auburn?

  20. Hey Steve,
Yeah, thanks, if, if, if, hopefully faster than last year.
The cam was pretty beat up, welding and grinding.
I don't know how fast the car will go, but at the current rate we are going to Hell in a hurry.

  22. Been a hot minute since I've posted on the banger forum, raising a baby will do that!
Super excited to finally finish the first run of side timing covers. Took some 3d modeling classes, and turned it to a reality!

As I want to have a few projects to work on, what would be other bolt-ons that you'd like to see made?

Hi guys. I'm still lerking, but not posting.

I have a question regarding balancers.

My coupe is powered by a winfield headed B motor. I mainly drive it around town (metropolitan traffic) with the occasional trip on the freeways, where I cruise on 55mph. It has an alternator.

Trouble is the balancer is worn and rocks on the crank. So do I replace it with an original sized one, or a smaller diameter one from Scalded Dog?

I'd appreciate your input before I make my purchase.
    Cheers.
    Mark

Been watching this on Instagram, GREAT JOB!! We need more like you to be able to step up to the plate so to speak and start carrying this stuff on. It is a tough limited market, but anything anyone does to help the hobby like this is a win in my opinion.

I have been quite busy myself to partake on forums and IG / Facebook, But I was shock recently to learn of so much Model T stuff disappearing at a rapid rate in the last 2-3 years. No more gas tanks, No more radiators, No more Model T haven, No more Fun Project parts, No more RV Anderson supplied small parts, No more Stan Howe Carburetors, and I am sure there is a bunch more I am forgetting.

Checking in. T5 is done. Going through rear axle now. Can't wait to get it back together and start driving it.

  29. Thank you man! Someone's gotta carry the torch! I'd love to meet up with Jim Brierly to pick his brain.
My buddy is thinking about selling this T engine, apparently its mated to a 4 speed. Side Draft Riley Carbs, Chain driven oil pump and Mag IMG_9948.jpeg

  30. Retson,
Those look really nice good job.
I was thinking of the Burtz motor and something that might make sense would be a filter mount that would discharge the oil directly into the galley port instead of using the bottom bolt. Or just add the boss to your existing model and oring the port.

Keep up the good work, J
