    Hi
Does anyone know of, or has anyone made up, a hood prop for a 30s car which has open sides (ie just for the tops)?

I’m using a pair of rootlieb louvred tops and want to find some props that locate properly so they don’t slip or move, scratching the paint. If you have pics of what you’ve made or any references to kits available, that would be great

    thanks guys

Ah no @Blade58 this won’t work with the op requesting hood top only , this will be too low.

Thanks for the pic @Blade58 - no hood sides, so would need something longer I think.

I made simple rods that run from small spring pin brackets on the firewall to the the pins.

I believe we have pretty much the same hood and here’s what I came up with for props, and when not in use, they’re stored in the trunk.

I have used ⅜" or ½" tubing cut to length with rubber feet on both ends. Works well and looks good.

I have a one piece hood top only, but just food for thought. When I was building the car I added a provision for a screw in studs (easily retrofitted with nuts on the back side). The SS prop arm has a spring loaded quick release that attaches to the stud so a gust of wind cannot blow it off the perch. When not in use it stores inside the hood lip on a spring catch. I think I got it from the same company that made the hinge system I used. I cannot recall who that was but it may have been a Hagan piece.
