Finally got my first "A". 28-29 Sport Coupe on a '31 ch***is. Deciding on coupster or just a chopped sport coupe like the one from the TROG gallery. Front end sheetmetal work like the bottom pic. 28 Mocked Up on 31 Chassis.jpg TROG-Gallery-16.jpg Custom Front frame cover-overflow tank here?.png

Chop it and add a removable top? Ive seen them out there. Probably a lot of work but would be cool.

  5. Yes, I would do some thinking about the removable top idea also.

what state are you from ?
i have 5 '28-'29 doors with the tops cut off... the rear clip of a ? four door, and headlight bar...
sedan clip could rough out the removable top...
give you a great deal if you live close enough for pick up...
the date of manufacture is stamped into the tank face, about 6" from the left and about 1" up from the flange...
    go '29 coupester go !

wish I was closer sloppy jalopies - I'm planning on trading/selling the 5 wheels/tires. I want to get slightly larger tires on 16" steelies - prob no caps. I'm CO.

  11. I'd do the sheet metal like the bottom one, but slice and dice the top like the second pic. No top.

    Welcome to the Hamb @1929coupster...

I like Sport Coupes, especially Hotrodded showcasing their unique features...

Here's a great Thread dedicated to them...

   ...these are a couple favourites...

The reason its referenced as a poor mans Roadster...I look at it 2 ways...it has a canvas and wood top and appears to be a Convertible somewhat like a Roadster but the top doesn't go down...

Secondly many remove the top window frames on the doors, even the windshield posts and fab all kinds of mods to make them into Roadsters which is referenced
    as your screename...

That is generally a cheaper way to get an alternative to the revered by many real deal more pricey Roadster...

I look forward to your journey in Hotrod...

Looks like a nice project have fun! I like the chopped version. I used to know the dude that built the chopped one you pictured at TROG. That car was destroyed in a crash (torn to pieces) a little while after that picture was taken. He lived.

That's to bad, it was a really nice one...glad he came out of it alright...they don't provide much protection in such nastiness...

Anybody know how wide/tall of a tire I can run on the stock 19" wheels? Not balloons, but just wider/taller would be nice. Want to run the same tire size all around. Thanks!

If you want a tall wheel consider switching to a 32 Ford wheel. Its an 18" wheel but with the v8 wheel construction. A much stronger wheel design. As far as options go for the 19 ive owned a few model As and never found anything beyond a 5.00 19
