The latest caretaker of a 30s big car sprint and excited to join the community. The car comes from CA and many years with the WRA on dirt tracks. Pictures and some history here: https://www.hemmings.com/auction/1933-ford-model-b-422323 WRA members will recognize it as Bill Gerard's car who rescued it in the late 90s and raced it for many years followed by the next two owners until last year. Thank you in advance for my questions, and apologize for their simplicity. I'm here to learn, make friends and have fun. Steve Snyder, Cincinnati but planning various adventures across the country including the west coast.
Welcome to the HAMB from Illinois. Neat old racer. I have a friend who races the first flathead Ford to finish the Indy 500, in 1934, in vintage racing events. Let's see some more photos. Go Bengals!
Welcome! The H.A.M.B. is indeed one of the best places to get information and education. Looks like the car built by Bill Gerard found it's third owner (fourth if you include Bill). Dennis Webb of Webb Designs, Anaheim CA, I believe did the frame and body panels. Bill did all the mechanicals, including the suspension, drive train & engine. He once told me that he got a motorcycle fabrication and repair outfit in Long Beach CA to create the knockoff wire wheels.
Thank you for reaching out! Yes, it's Bill's car and I'm the lucky 4th owner. But Bill started the car's journey so it will always be his car. My job is to have fun, keep her in good shape and share the love of these cars and dirt track with my kids and grandkids. But I am very late to the party, I grew up with racing motorcycles, all off road and some oval. I've seen your name quite a bit as I pour through the threads and especially the Sprint Car thread that Josh Shaw started. Turns out he and his dad are within 30 minutes of me.
Love love love...old oval track cars...I grew up with an awesome track not 3 miles from my house...saw my first race at 4 years old... Those old race cars always make me smile....welcome to one of the best vintage car websites on the net... Good luck with your new project... MikeC
