so i spend a lot of time at a cl***ic car dealership near my apartment and for the last few months have been absolutely DROOLING over this '37 ford sedan delivery. it was brought up from brazil and customized back in the day and is as original of a rod as they come; tigre heads on the flatty, 2x2 intake, duals with the old 50's deflectors. plus it was one of the most bad *** sounding cars i have ever heard.

i stopped in the yesterday and it was gone. asked my buddy that works there about it. mother****ing boyd coddington bought it "i've been looking for one of those for years!" he tells me boyd said. so he tells him about how nice and original it is..."i don't give a ****! hell, i don't even want that engine in it. i'll ship it back to you if you want." granted, the guy who had it there on consignment wanted too much for it...but why the **** couldn't someone who actually appreciates these kind of things get ahold of it. boyd is going to absolutely ****ing RUIN a beautiful example of an old rod, just to make a buck. he says he's a hot rodder...that goat ****ing piece of **** shouldn't even be allowed to think he's one of us! ****!!!

here's some pics...wish i'd have gotten more before the hot rod grim reaper got ahold of it. i hope the car jumps off the ****ing lift onto his bald little head...

I feel your pain man. When Boyd bought that '36 coupe to build the Bud Light car, I went ballistic. It came from a museum and they beat the **** out of it to make it look "barn fresh" for TV. What a waste. The car was perfect! I bought the door panels and kick panels for my '36.

There are tons of ratty 5 windows out there to do that **** to. We are building a '35 coupe for Bonneville and are using the rattiest piece of **** would could find, just to prove what kind of work comes out of the shop. And it will rule.

the best we can hope for is that the car was actually rusted all to hell and held together with bondo, chicken wire and old socks.

I don't know who actually built it, but one car that makes me sick is CADZILLA. that was one clean *** stocker and all they ended up using were the quarters and the dash....

....uh.. hey dumb****.. how bout getting just the parts you need instead of trashing a nice car?

Boyd's cars aren't my bottle of beer.....

But once someone buys a vehicle, what they do with it is there business. If you wanted to save it, you should have bought it. That's the fact of life.

    No offence.

That's actually a '38 Ford Standard- VERY rare car that most people build into a '37 when they find them. My dad has one that's humbly probably the nicest restored original in exhistence based its rarity and the fact that NO ONE likes '38 Ford Standards. I'm sure if that one gets rebuilt it will end up a '37. That car has gone through Ebay a couple times and the absolutely RAREST part is the side stainless that only a few at the end of production like my dad's has. The early '38 Standards had NO stainless but they tried to dress them up to sell the last of them. Most people have NEVER seen a '38 Standard because they were the least popular Ford EVER produced- one of the few cars to NEVER get featured in Hot Rod magazine while only a handful of '37s and even less '39 Standards found their way into the early pages. Today they make a pretty neat car because you NEVER see them- but in the last 30 years of scouring cars for sale and swapmeets my dad and I combined have not seen 2 hoods or upper grille sides for sale.

Either he really does lurk here or someone fills him in on whats being said about him. I was standing in line for a soda at the L.A. Roadster show with my H.A.M.B. shirt on when his kid walked by me and gave me the dirtiest look ever........it made my weekend.

At least he has his circus TV show. I'd knock my bosses *** out if he said some **** like that to me. PERIOD.

  21. Yeah, Boyd is a complete ****...but my secret dream is that he'll someday pick out a pristine early C2 or C3 'Vette to "customize", the National Corvette Restorers Society will get wind of it, and there will be a gold chainer's civil war.:D Those guys can't stand anything that isn't restored to original, even if it was a totally altered POS that wasn't rare in the first place.

Regardless of what year it is, that's a sweet, sweet, automobile.

I put a few of his cars on the Rod & Custom website recenty, but I didn't think the TOTALLY original '38 Sedan Delivery had enough "Rod" in it to add to the story. When we got it it had big & little rubber on cut down "wide five" wheels and an Edelbrock dual tall "street" manifold (a rare one I haven't seen another like). Found out that for the first 30 years of it's life it was the delivery vehicle for Pomona Auto Parts. My dad returned it to 100% stock when he still had the restorer bug. The manifold is still in the garage and the wheels are on his '36 Ford Phaeton that's on the R&C site. I've never taken any digital pics if the Delivery- it's been done since 1983! It sat under a cover for 20 years until my dad decided to start driving it a couple years ago.

  25. Hmm. I like the 38 and 39 standards best of all those cars.

That's the problem with a guy with money falling out his *** who likes to do 6 month or 12 month builds in 4 weeks - not only can he buy a pristine piece to mess up, he has no choice but to do so if he wants it done on time. I about fell off my chair when he purposely blew up that '61 Impala bubbletop... then they not only tossed the frame, but cut the pans all out of it. We had one they could have done that to, that was rusted enough they could have saved a couple hours where the pans didn't need any cutting to come out, and the frame on it was already junk...

Oh yeah, and when you consider that they edit entire days down into an hour show, can you imagine how much of a ***** he must be that they can't show on the air?

Edit: They built a '55 Vette a while back, unless that was a repop body of some sort, I see it in someone's ads in the magazines with his big ugly mug. Car's bright yellow, all it needs is a checkered stripe and a taxi sign on it -

  26. Man I LOVE 38 standard, in fact I own one, heres a pic. This car was built in the mid 50s, with an update in the 70s and hasn't been touched since. When money is permitting its going back to its 50s build.
Ts an Aussy body Club coupe, so the turret is a little longer than the US Businessman's coupe.

  27. PS, Boyd is a ****ing low life that makes dog **** look good. I mean look what he did to that beautiful T coupe in the rat rod build off!! UGH!
Bluebear should have beaten him to death with those boxing plates.

maybe this is the unpopular opinion - but as i see it, boyd's doin his own ****, making his own 'dent' in the car world. like it or love it. i personally don't care for his work but hey, the man's got a right to build his cars the way he sees fit. and a big part of what's made traditional and even rat rods (ugh) so popular is because of guys like boyd - if they didn't exist and completely influence the style of contemporary rods, there'd be no backlash, and everyone would be driving rods that all looked alike and we'd be sick to death of em. viva la difference.

  29. I feel ya pain brother! It just kills me to see a car in ANY kind of decent condition go under such a severe knife. Cadzilla, yeah, its a nice end product, but so much was wasted!the same thing could have been acomplished with a partly rusted pos. Whatever B.C. wants to do with it,He doesnt NEED to cut the **** out of it. I have seen a lot of guys on this site say "anyone can restore a car, it takes a man to cut one up". But I have yet to see ANYONE start with a COMPLETE and CLEAN,RUNNING car and chop it into something totally unrecognizeable. What I have seen, is countless old cars rescued from crushers and roadside ditches. HAMBERS have put more old cars salvaged from"restorer-cast offs" back on the road than the restorers can imagine.{just my un-scientific observation} Most of us have started projects with cars the resto gus had deemed "TOO ROUGH" to work with. Kind of ironic, huh?

  30. P.s. Ever notice Boyd Coddinton and Bad **** start with the same initials?
