I've been working on our 29 Tudor. Top's lowered 3.5". Not planning on channeling it. It's sitting on a 32 southern cal rolling chassis. Not running the fenders or running boards. I'm needing a gas tank. What tank are folk running in the Tudors that'll fit? Thanks for any help.

A search here will show several nice solutions, but the solution I chose seems less common so I’ll toss this in FYI. I’m accepting of having tank inside and have no use for a rear seat. I picked a Tanks, Inc. unit for my ‘28 —steel, baffled, and has a flat bottom for sender accuracy. On a ‘32 chassis, the tank is bolted at end flanges to a square tubing support secured through to the frame. Its dimensions allow access to side window panels, wiring and lines all around, plus it can go in and out if work requiresn. The vent line runs to a rollover valve above behind the rear brace, exiting down through floor. So far happy, it’s presentable enough but I have toyed with the idea of enclosing it in a box to provide a locking storage compartment.

I used a 48-52 Ford pickup tank in both my Tudors. First was an original and second from Speedway. Fits rear body curves perfectly. Leaves lots of room for jump seat. Two 6V Optima batteries under the arm rests also dealt with where to put battery.

I'm going thru this same thought process myself with my 31 tudor.

2 things though, chopped 3" and channeled 3" along with a 2" kick up on the frame in the rear and I DO want a back seat.

I guess I could go with the gasser look and mount a gas tank in front of the radiator but I figured this might pose 2 problems, 1- it's so small I'd be making alot of stops to fill it up or it would be big enough but block flow thru the radiator! :p

So I guess back to the drawing board....

My AV8 avatar '29 runs the stock tank with a 59ab flahead.

I have a homemade 14 gallon tank on rear of car similar to a 32. It was just a rectangular box when we bought it and it looked out of place. I fabbed a sheetmetal rounded cover for it to better emulate a 32 tank. It works well and I have a full back seat. 20211107_084221.jpg

If you are building it with the fenders, then I suggest 1932 Repo rear frame rails, gas tank, and frame horn covers. It looks weird though of you're not building it with the fenders.
