I spent the majority of the winter taking apart the doors and attending to the window frame mechanism that allows for the whole metal window frames to be rolled down into the doors with a throw of the levers. It turned out to be a straightforward job that only required some minor straightening, of some of the lock up and release catches, some tightening of the pivot points and some lubrication and lastly installing all new glass slips in the frame. Once it was done, everything just worked, a nice break from the usual. I figured few people have actually seen this model, they only made 1,200ish of them. The family has been working on this car since 1934. I posted the Riley-4-Port a while back and am not sure if this kind of effort is what you are looking for. I had some message me about the the car in my icon so when it was all back together again, well here it is. I'll certainly understand if you toss it. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1932-ford-a-riley-4-port-on-a-hudson-frame.1252758/ As far as the windshield went, I had to refit the gasket channels and disassemble clean and lube the knobs that allow for everything to happen. The Windshield wiper arms/blades have to be removed as well. The windshield frame is its own support platform when solidly suspended over the hood. It really is a magnificent system. Here are some shots.
That's one beautiful car...although it could use a dropped axle And get rid of the pic (SPEED)...it gave me a seizure
Since looking at this, I've fallen down twice, shit my pants and ate a pot-holder (thought it was a waffle)
the falling down and the shitting of the pants is a common occurrence for you, don’t blame the picture .
Beautiful car. I have a good friend who`s building a 33 Plymouth convertible. What did you use for a wiper motor?
This model originally came with the typical twin Tryco vacuum motors. I had them rebuilt. What is important here is that if the windshield is going to fold forward, then the arm/blade assembly must come off before dropping the windshield. This requires a safe storage box, which I made and keep in the rumble seat area.
