I am searching for the PPG paint formula for a 1947 Ford color called "Barcelona Blue". I prefer base/clear but will take single stage formula I have already tried a lookup on Autocolorlibrary.com. I have seen several cars painted that color on the H.A.M.B....somebody must have it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Paint code is M-14221 for 47-48. don't know if that helps. You local paint store may still have the formula on Microfiche if you talk real nice to them. There won't actually be a "formula" for BC/CC for this color. It will be a converted formula, and the accuracy is hit & miss. I personally think those old solid colors look much better in single stage, anyway. Just an opinion.
Just hung up with my supplier. DAL 10361 is Barcelona Blue, lacquer only. It's still a PPG code, also lists as a 1929 GM color, same name. I'm not sure how bad you want it or if you can get lacquer, I'd think yes. You order a pint of that color in lacquer and spray it out over a black base on a nice easy panel to handle and buff. Take that panel to your supplier and have em cross-reference it and make you your BC/CC match. Good luck.
I have been trying paint shops in search of modern code for Barcelona Blue. Does anyone know of one? PPG Ditzler 10361 is the best I have come up with. Wondering if anyone has used this code for a barcelona blue?
