That is sad news. Always liked talking to him when I sold him fuel at Speedworld and visiting with him at the Prescott car shows.
Very Sad Day....We go back a long ways. Photo from 1966 NHRA NATIONALS in Indianapolis. Rest In Peace My Friend...
Sorry to hear about Jerry's p***ing. Mallicoat Bros. were extremely compe***ive back in the days of Gas Cl*** racing. And their work with their turbo SBC engine was so successful NHRA banned turbos from the Gas Cl***es.
Jerry Mallicoat and his twin brother Gary with the Wallys they received as Special Honorees at the 2012 California Hot Rod Reunion in Bakersfield, California. Jerry is the one on the left with the mustache. Rest in Peace my Friend....
Jerry's daughter posted this on Facebook. Thought you would like to see it. Jerry “dad” Mallicoat, RIP…3/22/22 We all have a start and an end. But what counts is the dash in the middle. I can honestly say my dad lived his dash! A racer at heart, from the time he was a teenager till the very end, he loved cars and racing!!! Alcohol funny car/dragsters were the main love of his life but he also ran Baja off-road trucks, supported engine development for cars running the Le Mans in France, and even “worked ” an event at the ******* mansion with his restored Willy! He traveled the world loving and living his life! In the recent years when he wasn’t on an adventure of his own, he would come watch me run Bug in agility. We laughed about how I used to complain as a kid “why would anybody want to participate in a sport where you spend all day sitting around for a 30 second run” and there I was..all day at an event for a couple 30 second runs . Guess the need for speed runs in the family…. By now I know he’s found his spot in the pits of heavens race track with other family and friends who left before him…Keep an eye on the sky, when you see a long, slick, fast moving cloud that’s my dad tearing up the heavens! ❤️
