I ordered a aluminum radiator for a 55 Ford Fairlane. It is a 4 row. I received it today. As I inspected it it is about 1 1/2" thicker then the original. I don't have the car in front of me as it is still snowed in up north. So the question being has anyone used one of these 4 row aluminum radiators in a 55 car and were there any fitment issues? Second as I remember there is a 1 inch spacer behind the fan. It will be another month at least before I see the car and I need to make a decision if I need to send this rad. back.

I don’t know how well your radiator will fit but I had bought one for my 64 and it fit like a glove. It is a three role like you sa an inch thicker.
I don’t care for the aluminum, I don’t care for the upper tank, it looks too modern for me…

I'm a little worried about fan to rad. clearance. Customers car. I need to figure out if I need to return the radiator. I'm at a handicap not being near the car. It's up north in the snow for another month.

  4. I'm working on a '55 Ford that my parents bought new. Mine still has the stock radiator with the 272, and I have a NOS radiator that I can use if/when I have any problems with the one that is in it. I don't think you will have any problems if the dimensions of the radiator are otherwise correct. My '55 has enough space between the fan and radiator to use a thicker than original radiator. If it's not more than 1" or so thicker than original, I don't think you will have a problem,

It's about 1 1/2' thicker. And I'm thinking if I pull the spacer from the fan the fan may interfere with the power steering pump. The car has a 56 4 blade fan.
