Don, It was a pleasure meeting you at the Hop Up Awards BBQ, even though it was briefly. Thanks for posting the pics. It keeps bringing back great memories. Paul
What's the deal with crazy 'Cuda?!?!?!? I saw some pics from SEMA of a Mopar Performance car that was running a four-cylinder. Looks like they got it done. Very cool!
Ran 255 twice on a 230 record. It's an awesome car, we spent many hours looking it over since it lined up behind us on the long course Friday morning. Built by Troy Trepanier for Goerge Poteet's Camel Toe Racing, It set everyone who looked at it on their ear. Mike PS Don, I kept seeing you across crowded parking lots and other areas but never managed to catch up and say hello.
From 10/06 HRM "Rad Rides by Troy's Bonneville bound project for uber-rodder George Poteet...full tube ch***is Barracuda with a 1200hp, turbocharged, four cylinder MoPar USAC midget motor with a Jerico four speed and a Gear Vendors overdrive unit (making it an eight speed to keep the engine in its powerband). A lot of hours in Chrysler's wind tunnel made it swoopy (0.20Cd)...F/Blown Gas Compe***ion Coupe...
Thanks! Spotted one of my friends in the background of one of your pictures. Printed one off for him. He will be stoked.
I had some friends that always make it out there. These pictures confirm it - I'll be there next year. Thanks.
The slope nose #1340 '34 roadster got printed and stuck in the shop for inspiration. All '34's should come with a track nose, straight lower hood edges, and channelled so the lower cowl edge is parallel to the ground.
Yep, until I was about 10 then we moved right across the border into north Long Beach where I lived until I was about 24. The first house in Compton was on Harris, just north of Alondra between Atlantic and LB Blvd. The second place was on Peck St., west of LB Blvd and north of Rosecrans. Lots of hot rods and customs on that block in the mid 60's.
Don, That's strange, I lived on Harris north of Alondra. Between Alondra and Myrrh. I lived there from when I was born, 1957, and moved out in the early 70's when I was 17. We probally knew each other. Mike
Don: great pictures. Now I know why I didn't use my camera so much, but did you have to take two pictures of my modified??. Wish we could have met while there.
