    Hello all,

So i finally got my distributor back, and finally got in installed. I was having trouble doing it myself with finding top dead center. So i went to Chubbys shop in sylmar Ca. He popped it in and fired it up. I drove it home on the street ( i have not installed the disc brake kit yet ) and as soon as i got home, it died on me! chubby had me take off the fuel line from pump to carb to see if it was spitting fuel, and it was dry in there.
sooooo i was wondering if anyone could tell me what to get. I dont think i want to switch to an electric one as i dont have a good wiring set up at the moment. I have found this one which looks pretty similar to the one i have, just iffy on ebay. I cant find any others on speedway or anything, maybe i need to look up another model?
Here is the one that looks similar

here is a list of some others : https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...ted,Submodel:Base,Engine+-+Liter_Display:4.4L

also on a side note, does anyone have any recomendations on what car manual to buy? i have come across a few online and want to get one so i can find out all the correct bolt and torque settings, and was wondering if anyone has had any that were good before?

I need to also get a new cable for the choke. I found that online on MACS and a socal ford parts. My other question is my carb.

I know i need to eventually get another one esp when i get an intake ( speaking of, blue thunder or mummert?) but i think mine right now could do with a solid cleaning/rebuild. As far as i can tell this is a stock one that came on it, i believe its a holley of some sort based on what i read but it does say Ford on it. Does anyone have a kit or anything they would recommend or should i just replace it? i want to say it looks like this one here

or from a profile view it does look like this

Before you replace the fuel pump, you should check to see that fuel is getting from the tank to the pump. The feed line from the tank could be plugged.

  4. While you may need to rebuild or replace the fuel pump, if the car has been sitting for a while, the tank and line from tank to the fuel pump should be suspect, especially if the car sat for months or years with old gas in it. Best to pull the tank and see what kind of shape it's in. New tanks are available, or you have the option of sealing the tank with the POR-15 if it's not too rusty. Either way, I would add an inexpensive in-line fuel filter, which these cars didn't have originally. If you change to an electric pump, go to your friendly Pick-a-Part and grab an inertia switch from any late model Ford product. The inertia switch cuts the power to the fuel pump if you're in a wreck. On Crown Vics and Mercury Grand Marquis, they're found in the trunk on the driver's side behind the cardboard liner. One wire in and one out, doesn't matter which is which, run the hot wire to the electric fuel pump through the inertia swith. Mount in a convenient location in case you need to reset it--if it gets tripped, you just mash the red button on top to reset (I am a southerner, we do not press buttons, we mash them).

If you replace the fuel pump, don't get a new old stock pump. Buy a new manufactured pump. The NOS pumps do not have the correct rubber parts in them for the new crap gas we have today. A NOS pump will fail in a week or so with todays gas.

Thank you for info...not a bad idea. im thinking it would probably be a good idea to replace the lines as is. I think i want to stick with a mechanical pump for now, i dont really have it set up yet to add any electronics.

looks like there is two on there....i dont think i need the vaccum pump one as i dont plan on running the wipers off of it when it eventually does get wipers. the roofs been chopped so i think i would have to find some other wipers anyway. lol. so the 30$ one should work out im hoping. Thanks for link. Gonna have to look for some fuel line and replace that too, and do what the other fella suggested and do an inline fuel filter.
