hey Yall, This probably has come up before but I searched Lincoln threads and didn't see this exactly addressed as I understand it..... I just scored a nice pair of 40 Lincoln Drums. Never seen em before but was complete with axle and spindles. I was actually trying to get a nice set of 40-48 drums/hubs I could just rebuild for my Coupe project that already had wheel studs and fell into these. 1.Will these work with my Ford spindles/Hubs? Or should I use the Lincolns? 2. Running a 4 inch "Ford" Magnum Drop Axle (fits fine) Any Kingpin difference? 3.WHAT THE HELL ARE THE SPRINGS running AROUND THE DRUM???? They fit perfectly with a pair of 41 backing plates and new shoes...anyone see any issues??? NO I dont have the Lincoln Backing plates. Wish I did. They were already taken....... The LINCOLN spindle is on the left, the FORD is the one on the Right....anyone notice anything differnt on the actual spindle itself or is it just ME? Ford Lincoln THANKS!!!
LINCOLN KING PIN ANGLE IS DIFFERENT & THE KING PIN IS LARGER DIAMETER THAN A FORD. SO THE LINCOLN SPINDLE DOES NOT WORK ON THE FOR AXLE. SPRINGS ON THE DRUM ARE FOR VIBRATION DAMPENING SO IT WONT CHATTER. LEAVE THEM ON THE DRUM. DRUMS MAY WORK, THERE ARE 3 DIFFERENT DRUMS FOR LINCOLN... ONLY ONE WORKS... PUT THE FORD BACKING PLATE ON THE FORD SPINDLE, THEN PUT THE LINCOLN DRUM ON AND SEE IF IT CLEARS. HOPE THIS HELPS
