We're stoked to be on board — thanks @Ryan. I got a message from one of our dealers asking if this offer is available through them, and the answer is absolutely YES. The details on how to redeem through a dealer are in our listing on the Alliance page, but basically you'll just send us a PM with a copy of your invoice and we'll ship the gear set and shirt out to you directly. Winters dealers I know of here on the HAMB include @GearheadsQCE, @krylon32, @Steadfast mfg, Pete & Jake's and Brookville. I'm sure there are more...post up here if I missed you! Thanks! And @flamedabone — what they all said...that coupe...
Good news. How about a little more on Winter's history in racing? I loved the first part of your intro.
In the '50s, while in the Air Force in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Vaughn Winter drag raced a '49 Olds and a '53 Studebaker. I wish we had photos of those cars, but so far no luck coming up with any. He became the go-to trans rebuilder for other racers and even some car dealers (and joked that building the first few customer transmissions on his kitchen table nearly cost him his marriage). Once he returned to Pennsylvania and officially launched Winters in '58, he built a pretty cool roster of customers on the transmission side...Bruce Larson, Grumpy Jenkins, "Ohio George" Montgomery, etc. As the company developed more driveline components — including our quick change rears — we became more entrenched in the dirt and asphalt world — Sprints, Midgets, Modifieds, Late Models, etc. — as well as land speed racing (and some less on-topic sports like drifting, autocross, etc.) I just took a walk through the shop and took some snapshots of customer car photos we've got hanging in the hall by the reception area. Some of the Funny Car stuff is pushing the limits of the HAMB, but I thought y'all would get a kick out of these... That's Bruce Larson by the driver's door, and Vaughn Winter is the tall guy second one over to the right of Larson. They remained friends right up to Vaughn's passing last year. Another Winters transmission from the glory days of panel-painted Funny Cars. Letter from Ohio George. Dave Strickler's "Old Reliable" Vette at the '67 Nats. Not an "old" photo, but a cool flathead-powered dragster that we helped out with. This was Tony and Kathy Lloyd's car. Beaver is Vaughn's son. He's retired, and today the company's run by Vaughn's daughter, Nina, and her son, Bob. So there's a little of the drag racing history. There's a ton more dirt history as well, but that's probably for another forum! And @Chris Casny that car still rules.
I missed the free gear set by couple weeks. I bought a complete center section V8 Quick change and just received it in March. I sent Winters a message to see if my purchase qualified, but the deal just started yesterday, so no go. They are sending me a T-Shirt though, so I got that going for me. Thanks @Winters Performance !!
