I just received a check from an anonymous supporter from Kansas with a donation for fuel.
In his letter he shared a story of family in Ukraine
Who have had to leave everything and retreat to safer places. Most of us here in the USA take our freedom and safety from aggressors for granted.
My heart goes out for those who must flee there homes and everything they know for ther safety
Please say a prayer for those suffering this tragedy..

The engine bay fire suppression system installed this morning one nozel for the oil pan area, one up top for carb fire and one inside the cab for driver safety should they be needed. Safety is paramount in any form of racing. The SCTA / BNI has one of the best safety programs I have experienced in all my racing career. 20220401_115001.jpg

Have you considered using thinner oil, like the NAPCAR guys are running nowadays? 0W30 or less is being run for a few hours with no issues. It has to take less power to pump the thin oil than the thicker stuff.

Yes I have and used it at Bonneville in 2021 however I did have some bearing issues using it. The Nascar engines use a much smaller crank rod journal
(Under 2 in. Dia rod journal's) that results in a slower bearing speed.
I would have to replace my rods and cut the crank to run that light oil safely.
The 262 Ford steel crank hasa 2.200 rod journals and bearing speed at 6500 RPM
Is very high and needs a heavier oil
. I run 15 w 40 and pre heat the engine to operating Temps before a pass down the salt.
But I'm sure it would be an advantage but at a great expense to change at this point

20220404_150731.jpg 20220404_160911.jpg 20220404_160925.jpg Dave Russell and I worked on fabricating the cover to close the rest of the bed in0 on Saturday.
I finished the drivers side today. The doors will allow access to the fuel tank and the battery monitor on the pass side. I'll post more as it comes together

We the header rap didn't work out very well, the headers near the collector is to tight to get the wrap in and just didn't look or fit well, SO,The header and intake got married to the engine today. Onward and upward 20220405_162017.jpg 20220405_161958.jpg

That was the old system that we used to get fresh cooler air to the carbs, however because the ducting was to close to the top of the carbs it was to restrictive. We have something new in the works to fix that problem.
I'll post that as it comes together

Today was a really great work day for the truck.
We couldn't work yesterday doing family gathering. So Dave Russell and Lee Pollard came and we got almost everything ready to go to Arkansas.
The fresh engine sounds impressive to say the least.
So responsive, really thumping hard and the carbs idle clean and crisp.
I'm grateful for having Dave and Lee giving up there Sunday family time to get things done.
We are ready but for some painting and clean up.

Just finished the tune up this afternoon.
Re adjusted the valves and set the timing to race specifications. Sure is crisp and responsive.
    Gona be fast enough??
We will see, I say hell yes
