I’m seriously considering painting my ‘33 Tudor white, but I haven’t been able to find any examples to refer to. If you have any pictures please share.
No offence intended but white looks better on household appliances than old cars, there are so many variation's & colors to choose from. HRP
I own a white car, but it is not my preference. That being said, build the car that you want, not what other people want. Especially if you don't intended to sell it.
I also owned a white car, hence my opinion on the color or lack there of . I had a 50 club coupe, loved the car but really didn't like the white, IMHO it's a personal thing. HRP
I gotta say white on cars older than about 38 just doesn't seem to look right to me. Newer than 38 seems to look fine. Can't tell you why, but that's how it looks to me.
White looks like a fleet vehicle to me. Guess I’ve driven so many white trucks, own one now, that I dislike them so much now. People say they don’t show dirt, they do, and if you rub across a dirty one it shows how much dirt they show. As an accent, I like white fine, but as a body main color, count me out...
I think any of the off white/ ivory colors look fine. Especially if they have some chrome on the car. I dont care for the bright white (refrigerator white) / fleet white of newer cars.
My Rambler is a 550, essentially a fleet vehicle. but I think white looks good on cl***ic cars. Hard to keep looking clean though.
Too bright and it'll look like an ambulance or a milk wagon. Even Wimbledon white isn't "dirty" enough to pull off a kool white sedan. Some of those bordering on cream or tan seem to get it done.
Great thread. I have been contemplating white on my fordor deuce. Are these white, - or would these be considered cream……..? Off white…….. wheel choice can make a huge difference to the overall appearance also…..
Hello N2O, You did not say if white was the color of choice...So, From the drag racing era of 1955 to the 1962, this White Model A Sedan had gone through plenty of drag racing builds and teams/ownerships. They were all ***ociated with Reath Automotive in Long Beach, CA. Model A Sedan Reath Automotive Most of the drag racers had primered cars or a colorful variety of paint for their custom builds. There were a few that were painted White. A 1934 Altered Coupe was white, but the wheels were Red. This Model A Sedan was White, while the wheels and the frame got the Yellow color blend to give it some contrast. It did not need any other attention grabbing color as the motor was loud enough and the runs were pretty impressive. Jnaki So, the best example of a white sedan during the 55 to 62 era was the Reath Automotive + the myriad of builders/racers that had a partnership/ownership during these early days. The last known owner/racer was Dosser Motors in Long Beach, near our old high school. old Friday Art Below is part of a film showing the original roadster of HAMB's @wheeltramp brian and his newly found historic modified roadster resurrection.
