    Hi everyone,

I am doing the final ***embly on a flathead Ford for my coupe and I have a question about the interchangeability of flywheels. The block is a 1941 221 that has had the sleeves removed and bored to a standard 239. It also has a later Merc crank and rods. I planned on running the original 1941 flywheel and a 9" clutch. Will this flywheel still work with this crankshaft? Or will the positioning of the ring gear for the starter be incorrect?

    Thanks in advance!

The flywheel should match the block. The 41 flywheel will work in the 41 block, even if you use a later crank.

My avatar has a 59ab with merc crank and merc cam lightened flywheel and I can slip a 9" clutch. The 9" is good, and light, but should have slightly heavier springs in the pressure plate.

Awesome, thanks, guys. I had heard some conflicting information and just wanted to get the facts straight.
