Sorry if I totally blew my first impression here -- I just jumped in and didn't give you any background on myself. I'm a 34 year old father of two in Kansas City that has been married since 1996. I'm a very big car fanatic and my current stable consists of a 1960 Morris Minor, 1962 Buick Special Deluxe, 1971 Honda 450 cycle, 1991 Dodge Dakota (originally slated to donate it's 4-banger + a turbo for the Morris), 1993 Dodge Shadow, 2001 Dodge Stratus, and a 2003 Mazda MPV. I've been into old cars since my uncle started in on them back in 1985 or so -- with a 1941 Chevy Pickup that my great-grandfather taught my dad and him to drive. My dad has a 1942 Chevy Aerosedan with Chrysler Cordoba torsion bar suspension, 318 with a 727. My uncle has a lot of other cars, including a 1961 Corvair Pickup, 1939 Dodge Sedan, 1931 Plymouth Sedan, and a lot of other various project parts and peices.

My car background is I once upon a time wanted to get a car and build it up -- the 1960 Morris Minor that I eventually bought in 1999. I originally got interested in the car from a R/C racing buddy who had built it. Once upon a time I was thinking of buying the car but the local car club guys (Shelby Dodge guys) talked me into buying a Shelby -- a 1983 Shelby Charger. I nicknamed the Shelby "Christine" and you can probably only imagine why. I put a lot of miles on that car a 1/4 mile or autocross at a time, even taking the car to a driving school at Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia. The car eventually ended up with dual 40mm side draft Webers, Lunati camshaft, and Hooker header. Nonetheless, the time effort on the Shelby could have went into the Morris Minor and when I bought my house I went back and got my forgotten past. Unfornately I bit off a bit more than I can chew. I've bought a lot of tools, but I'm still not quite there for building a custom frame, which is what the Morris needs. In a fit of rage two summers ago I came across a cherry old 1962 Buick Special that I bought on a really good deal. I was tired of driving everyday cars to the rod shows (Macon, Missouri -- Buzzard Run is the big one we always hit). The Buick has about 40K miles, has lived all it's life in Kansas City (even built at the BOP plant here) and now just needs a lot of TLC on the exterior.

My plans for the Buick are to redo the interior adding some creature comforts, like stereo (under dash -- don't want to muck up the chrome push button in the dash) and maybe some better seats and some amps in the trunk. I'd like to get some wheels on the car and build a little more fire out of the little 215 aluminum V8. It's currently got the original two barrel and it needs a lot of lovin'. I'll probably go four barrel with intake and see if that wakes it up a bit. I'm fighting with my wife a bit on whether the original trim (since it's a special deluxe it has everything) should stay or go. Some peices are a bit rough, so I'm leaning to the chuck it pile.

Anyway, that's me and the car. You can read more about the Buick at http://myoldbuick.blogspot.com or the Morris at http://morris.accesszone.com.

Oh -- forgot to mention some other cool facts . . . my wife's dad has a 1967 Chrysler Newport Convertible. My neighbor has a 1981(?) Chevy Truck that their doing suicide doors on and other tricks. My next door neighbor has herself a 1961 Ford Ranchero she's working on. The neighbor behind me is a bracket racer and has various Ford Mustangs and that. Gotta love it!

EDIT: Updating my profile a bit here. Rocky bought my Morris Minor in March 2006 . . . and now guiseart has it. Porknbeaner loaded it up and it went away. *sniff*

A 2002 Ford Windstar has replaced the Mazda minivan. A chrome bumper 1974 MG - MGB has replaced the Morris Minor for LBC (Little British Car) hanging out in the driveway. The Buick is going to be finished up enough to sell . . . but it's hard to part with something that needs that little work. The Dakota's still hanging around, but I'm thinking it might be next on the chopping block to get some scratch for the potential father/son project car.

EDIT: A 2007 Chevy Cavalier has replaced the 2002 Ford Windstar . . . it's the wife's new toy. She loves the remote start. The Buick is still for sale and the Dakota will be too. I don't know what the father/son project will be but my thoughts are it might be a truck of some type.

Yea, I think my intro's making the rounds again . . . most people don't see how old the intro was . . . it's just "surfacing" again on the front page. I think some people have brought it up from my About Me signature.
